Each superhero devises a unique code when making their debut on the streets for the first time. What works well for one character might not suit another, leading to disagreements often seen in comic book narratives. For instance, the Marvel Cinematic Universe showcases numerous superhero pairs who relish debates, like Captain America and Iron Man whose clashes over the Sokovia Accords nearly dismantle the Avengers. In “Captain America: Civil War,” Spider-Man gets caught in this power struggle. Although he aligns with Tony Stark, it’s evident that he yearns for a truce, wishing for an end to the squabbles between all involved.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Spider-Man (Peter Parker) often sees the best in others, sometimes to his own detriment as it can be seen as a weakness. His trusting nature allowed him to overlook Mysterio’s suspicious behavior in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’, posing a grave threat to the world. Whenever he encounters a questionable individual, he tends to give them a chance, and it often ends up costing him heavily. Fortunately, there’s someone watching out for him who prevents him from going too far, although it’s unfortunate that this guardian figure frequently overshadows Peter as the true hero.
Doing the Right Thing Tears Spider-Man Apart in No Way Home

In this scenario, Peter finds himself in a challenging position as “No Way Home” begins. His persona as Spider-Man is widely known, leading to a chaotic media frenzy that negatively impacts his loved ones. As a last resort, he seeks aid from Doctor Strange, who concocts a spell designed to make people forget about Spider-Man. However, when Peter attempts to alter the incantation, things go awry and villains from multiple universes are released onto Earth-616. After apprehending all these malefactors, Peter discovers they’ve been marked for death, which he finds unsettling. In response, his friends Ned Leeds and MJ decide to help Peter find cures for the doomed villains, immediately setting out on their mission.
The Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) disrupts the heroes’ plan, gathering other villains to try and conquer the world again. During this turmoil, Green Goblin summons his glider, unfortunately striking and killing Aunt May. A heartbroken Peter Parker struggles with regret, but is quickly joined by two different Spider-Man characters (played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield) to console him. Together, they devise a strategy to save everyone and move forward. However, just as it seems they might succeed, the Green Goblin returns to mock Tom Holland’s Peter Parker. Enraged, Spider-Man tries to kill his arch-nemesis but is stopped by Maguire’s hero due to a previous lesson he learned about the sanctity of life from another character created by Sam Raimi.
Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man Gives Into His Rage

In a departure from Holland’s portrayal, it’s only Maguire’s Spider-Man who has starred in a third movie outside of the series. In “Spider-Man 3,” he learns that his uncle’s real killer is still alive and at large. When Flint Marko, the Sandman, reappears at an inconvenient time for our hero, Spider-Man finds himself with a powerful ally – the symbiote – which amplifies his anger and strength. During their confrontation, Spider-Man doesn’t pull any punches, seemingly ending Sandman’s life by drowning him in water. However, Peter soon learns that Aunt May is disheartened when she hears about Spider-Man taking the life of the man suspected of her husband’s murder. She expresses her viewpoint that even Spider-Man shouldn’t have the power to decide who lives and dies.
It’s not quick for Peter to understand that lesson, but eventually, he comes to regret his actions and teams up with Marko when Venom poses a problem for both. Years pass, and Peter demonstrates his newfound knowledge by preventing his variant from violating his code. Unbeknownst to Earth-616’s Peter, he managed to make more than one version of his aunt proud by relinquishing the glider and making an alternate choice.
