After several pivotal months since the shocking revelation concerning the primary antagonist in “Spy x Family,” the manga is now gearing up to shed light on various lingering questions. As the prime target of Loid Forger, Donovan Desmond is instrumental to Operation Strix’s success due to his questionable actions that suggest attempts to create tension between Westalis and Ostania. Furthermore, his preference for solitude makes it nearly impossible to engage with him through conventional means. This is where the intricate deception of the Forger family comes into play, yet despite this long journey, there remains a scarcity of details about Desmond, the series’ presumed main villain, and his true nature – whether he does indeed possess telepathic abilities or even if he’s an extraterrestrial being.
In Chapter 37, Loid encountered Donovan, but their interaction didn’t spur any advancement, and Loid persists in relying on his ‘Friendship’ strategy. Over time, the series has witnessed numerous events, and we are now edging closer to uncovering the truth. Recently, in Chapter 109 published in January this year, Donovan’s peculiar identity was revealed by Melinda, who had concealed it until then. She informed Loid about Donovan’s psychic abilities and her suspicion that an alien has been masquerading as her husband. However, the manga diverged from this plot twist to focus on a fresh storyline. In this new arc, Anya begins a new term at Eden Academy, while Yor embarks on another mission.
Spy x Family May Reveal Something Major About Donovan Desmond
Melinda holds strong beliefs in the supernatural, including mysticism, UFOs, and psychic powers. Interestingly, these interests were sparked after discovering that Donovan apparently has the power to read minds. She even speculates that an alien has taken over Donovan’s identity, leaving her original husband stranded somewhere in space. However, it’s important to note that the show hasn’t given any indications of extraterrestrial beings planning to invade Earth, suggesting this idea might be a result of years of stress. Yet, there is a possibility that Donovan possesses telepathic abilities, as this seems to also be true for Anya Forger.
Melinda can’t recall exactly when Donovan’s character transformed, but she recalls he wasn’t always like this. Regrettably, Loid refused to believe her when she told him about it. In Chapter 121, Loid discovered he had missed an appointment, though it didn’t shock him much. Despite Melinda’s seemingly absurd allegations, Loid can’t dismiss the notion that Donovan may have influenced her to think that way. Currently, Loid is investigating Donovan’s actions, particularly those around the time his sons were born (14 and six years ago).
