In the early 2000s, Cartoon Network aired some truly bizarre episodes, and if we were to rank them all, Courage the Cowardly Dog would undoubtedly claim several top positions. To honor one of the strangest and most outrageous episodes of this animated frightfest, Entertainment Earth and Funko have decided to pay tribute to Season 1 Episode 12, “Journey to the Center of Nowhere,” the episode where Courage transforms into The Great Eggplant. What’s more, only a limited edition of 5,000 exclusive Courage The Great Eggplant Funko Pops will be made available.
To safeguard Muriel, Courage bravely confronts a horde of eggplants, unintentionally dressed in an eggplant costume and assuming the position of their commander. The latest Funko Pop from Entertainment Earth flawlessly recreates this unique version of Courage, making the costumed canine come alive. Given that only 5,000 units are available, if you’re a fan of Cartoon Network’s Golden Age era, don’t hesitate to secure one promptly because it’s likely to sell out soon. Visit Entertainment Earth here to pre-order now while supplies last.

The animated series “Courage the Cowardly Dog,” while intended for children, could be quite unsettling at times. The episodes like “Journey to the Center of Nowhere” presented some intriguing plotlines for Courage, Eustace, and Muriel, but their purple villains might not make it onto the list of the scariest villains. However, there have been several truly terrifying monsters and antagonists that graced the show. In fact, Comicbook’s Madeline Lapreziosa has ranked her top 7 scariest adversaries on the show, arguing that “Courage” delivers chilling and unsettling 10-minute stories that continue to haunt viewers even today. From zombies to massive insects to peculiar humans, the most unsettling foes that Courage and his family encounter are likely to invade your nightmares.
High on Lapreziosa’s list is Fred, a man with a perpetual grin that has lingered in my mind since I encountered it in my home back in 2004. She portrays him as a disturbed barber who finds amusement in shaving both humans and animals bald. It’s something I dislike immensely. If I were to compile my own list, Fred would undoubtedly take the number one spot. His narrative, delivered in a gentle yet chilling voice, leaves an indelible mark on the mind and haunts dreams. There isn’t a more terrifying villain that embodies the horror that Courage the Cowardly Dog could conjure than Fred.
