At New York Knicks games, or wherever they’re playing, it’s quite frequent to see celebrities, like we discovered during Pat McAfee’s brief conflict with Ben Stiller and Timothée Chalamet. Naturally, some celebs receive more attention than others, and a few lucky ones might even score a hug from star player Jalen Brunson. However, it’s important to note that only one individual gets this special hug – the actress Mariska Hargitay from Law & Order: SVU.
As a movie enthusiast, I found myself reminiscing about my recent chat on Late Night with Seth Meyers. During our conversation, he asked me about the extraordinary honor I’ve received lately. Reflecting back, I recalled an intriguing incident connected to my fame prediction by a fortune teller.
The subject then veered towards a memorable moment in my life – the first time I shared a hug with an NBA all-star. Now, you might wonder how that happened amidst the tight security in the arena. Well, let me tell you, it was an unexpected and magical encounter that will forever remain etched in my memory.
They informed me that Jalen was a devoted admirer, which left me feeling touched and elated since I hold him in high regard. I have the impression that Jalen may have spent his childhood years on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. That’s what his father, Rick, used to watch…I believe it struck a chord with many people, as it often does, that sense of closeness and security one experiences growing up watching SVU.
It’s not unusual to see someone popular, such as Kylie Jenner, at a Knicks game, but meeting Olivia Benson from “Law & Order: SVU” feels special because it seems everyone recognizes her. And if Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni are both present? Well, past encounters with them have caused quite the stir online!

I recently caught the 2025 NBA Draft, and there was a heartfelt interview with a rookie about his mother that you absolutely shouldn’t miss as a standout moment.
Later, Seth Meyers brought up the fact that Jalen Brunson attended the debut of Mariska Hargitay’s film, titled “My Mom Jayne“, a documentary focusing on 1950s film star Jayne Mansfield, who was his mother. When Hargitay was just three years old, her mother met an unfortunate end in a car accident in 1967. Since then, she discovered that the man who raised her wasn’t her biological father. The documentary explores this revelation, as Hargitay uncovers a family secret that had been hidden for years.
It’s really fun to witness celebrities getting genuinely passionate about their favorite sports teams, and this was particularly evident during the recent New York Knicks playoff series. Timothée Chalamet shared enthusiastic videos, Pat McAfee engaged in a feud with John Mellencamp, while Spike Lee even offered to give away one of his Oscars if the Knicks won the NBA championship.
This year, unfortunately, our team didn’t manage to reach the finals; they were defeated by the Indiana Pacers in six matches during the Eastern Conference Finals. I’m certain Mariska Hargitay felt let down, but there’s always next season for another shot at success.
Don’t miss out on the upcoming season of Law & Order: SVU, airing this fall only on NBC. In case you can’t wait, you can catch up by watching old episodes available for binging in syndication until then. Check your local TV schedules!
