As a fan enthusiastically endorsing the series, I wholeheartedly agree that “Alien: Earth” is an intellectually stimulating triumph. It effortlessly captures the essence of Ridley Scott’s original masterpiece and translates it effectively to television. Even though I haven’t had the chance to watch every Alien film, I find myself appreciating Noah Hawley’s work on this series immensely. In fact, it already stands as one of the best science fiction TV shows I’ve encountered in quite some time.
Speaking as a dedicated Star Trek fan, its achievements are filling me with a strange mix of joy and sadness. On one hand, I’m thrilled about what my cherished series is accomplishing, and I can hardly wait for future Trek projects. However, it’s hard not to wish that executives had managed to involve the creator of Alien: Earth when they had the opportunity, as it would have been wonderful to see his contribution.
Alien: Earth’s Biggest Triumph Is Bringing Ridley Scott’s Alien Aesthetic To Television
If you haven’t seen “Alien: Earth” yet, one of the highest praises I can give it is its ability to recall the visual style of the greatest sci-fi film ever made without appearing overly outdated. The combination of practical effects and traditional methods alongside contemporary techniques significantly contributes to this effect, but words fall short in capturing its essence. Minor details might not replace a strong narrative, but they undeniably enhance my affection for the series when I watch it.
It’s Success Has Me Wondering If Noah Hawley’s Trek Movie Could’ve Done The Same For Its Movies
It appears that Noah Hawley has a knack for merging traditional elements with modern approaches, as demonstrated in Alien: Earth and FX’s Legion. One might speculate that if given the opportunity, he could have crafted his Star Trek movie by integrating fresh story concepts while preserving the classic look of the original series (TOS).
It’s worth mentioning that the planned Star Trek movie by Hawley never came to fruition due to its cancellation. Hawley claimed his concept was entirely new, but it was scrapped partly because Paramount executives preferred to stay close to their past ventures. There were rumors that Cate Blanchett could have been part of this project, which has piqued my curiosity about what the movie might have looked like.
Could Alien: Earth’s Acclaim Convince Paramount To Reconsider Noah Hawley’s Trek Movie?
If “Alien: Earth” maintains its grip on audiences and Noah Hawley’s television success persists, could this pave the way for his “Star Trek” film? I certainly hope so, given that it seems the company is currently selective about approving new content.
I’ve viewed the initial two episodes of Alien: Earth, and there were actually two aspects that gave me more anxiety than the Xenomorphs.
In simpler terms, if the Star Trek universe is seeking an innovative perspective on how Starfleet and its associated shows should evolve, Hawley could be an excellent candidate for the role. However, I must acknowledge that I greatly appreciate Alex Kurtzman’s work at Paramount+ and his significant contributions to revitalizing television in general. Despite this, I would be equally satisfied if he continued in his current position.
As a die-hard Star Trek fan, I’m eagerly waiting for the possibility of Noah Hawley returning to discuss a Star Trek movie in the future, as long as his plate isn’t overflowing with Alien: Earth projects. Here’s hoping that window of opportunity hasn’t closed, because the innovative work he’s doing on FX is captivating, and if it continues at its current quality level, I can see the series having a lasting impact on television.
