After String Of Surprising Cancellations, HGTV Just Announced A Trio Of Highly Anticipated Renewals, A Home Town Spinoff And More

It came as a surprise to many that HGTV, traditionally a stable cable network, would lead in cancellations during the 2025 TV season. However, this summer has shown us an unexpected level of unpredictability. The series of show cancellations appeared to begin in June, around the time Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson from Married to Real Estate discovered their program had been cancelled upon returning from vacation. Several other shows followed suit over the subsequent weeks, causing even more apprehension. Fortunately, it seems that trend is now reversing.

Instead of hinting at potential cancellations, HGTV has provided reassurance by greenlighting additional seasons for three popular shows, such as “The Flip-Off” starring Tarek El Moussa and Cristina Haack. Furthermore, they’ve announced an enticing array of new projects that will soon be added to their lineup. Here’s a rundown of all the positive updates below.

The Flip-Off Renewed For Season 2

The primary focus of this latest renovation update revolves around the popular home-improvement show “The Flip-Off,” starring former spouses Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack. In this program, they collaborate with Tarek’s current spouse, Heather El Moussa, in competitions to determine who is the best at flipping houses.

Initially, the first season appeared to be a success for HGTV, largely due to Haack’s breakup with Josh Hall that occurred early in the series, leaving viewers pleased. However, when it didn’t receive an immediate renewal, some fans began to fret about its continuation. This anxiety increased when Haack and El Moussa’s separate shows were canceled, making a second season appear less likely.

The second series will once again feature a 2-against-1 format competition, as both the El Moussas and Haack refine their strategies following their initial experience in Season 1. Given that HGTV reported over 14 million viewers tuning in for the first season across linear and streaming platforms, there’s anticipation for an even more captivating sequel.

Love It Or List It Renewed For Season 21

After successfully premiering its impressive 20th season in April 2025, and with Page Turner taking over as co-host following the departure of Hilary Farr, Love It or List It didn’t take long to receive some positive news from HGTV. David Visentin will reunite with Turner on screen again during 2026 for Season 21.

Renovation Aloha Renewed For Season 3

Given all the shows facing bad news, fans of Renovation Aloha were definitely worried that the series could be in trouble due to only having two seasons under the belts of hosts Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama. The couple also appeared to be unsure of their own future when addressing a fan’s Season 3 question on social media with some fingers-crossed emojis. But Season 3 is now confirmed to be in the works, aiming for a 2026 debut.

Home Town Spinoff & Four Other New Shows Ordered

Ben and Erin Napier, without pausing their work, consistently give their best during each season of Home Town. However, they’re not slowing down but rather increasing their efforts for the upcoming spinoff, titled Home Town: Inn This Together, which will air simultaneously with the latest season of the original series. Anticipating fans, this new project promises to bring Ben and Erin together with the people of Laurel for an undertaking that surpasses their usual scope.

Napiers & Co. plan to focus their efforts on revitalizing the dilapidated 1930 Kress building in downtown Laurel. The community members, Jim, Mallorie, and Josh, picture this spot as a perfect match for a hotel-restaurant hybrid, with retail stores. Ben and Erin will then step in to strategize the entire project.

Here’s a preview of the other four less-publicized but equally exciting shows that have been greenlit.

In this rephrased version, I aimed to make the sentence more conversational and easier for the reader to understand. The phrase “ordered up” has been replaced with “greenlit,” which is a term often used in television production to describe when a show receives the go-ahead from network executives to proceed with production. The sentence now reads as if it were spoken by someone describing a selection of shows rather than written.

  • Cheap A$$ Beach House No hosts named for this one, but it sounds like a genre twist for HGTV, as this show will “humorously show viewers how to own a slice of affordable paradise,” per the network. I’d love more purposefully tongue-in-cheek shows on there, so I’ll be keeping my eye$ on this one later in 2025.
  • Tropic Like It’s Hot With its punned out title, this new show set for 2026 will center on potential buyers adding more heat into their lives with properties in the tropics.
  • Hoarding for the Holidays (working title) Set for the upcoming holiday season, this new series will put the focus on families around the country who go absolutely all out in making sure their homes are decorated top to bottom for Christmas and more.
  • White House Christmas 2025 A project whose name kind of says it all, HGTV will take viewers into one of the country’s most lavish Christmas celebrations later in 2025.

In 2025, there are upcoming premieres for exciting new series on HGTV. Additionally, some of our favorite shows will make a comeback in 2026. This means that HGTV fans finally have something substantial to look forward to instead of solely lamenting all the cancellations.
