At Gamescom 2025, gaming publisher CULT Games and game developer White Owls unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming title, “Hotel Barcelona,” a comical tribute to 2.5D slasher films that’s filled with action.
Here is an overview of the game, via CULT Games:
About
In a chilling fusion of horror, action, and vintage grindhouse style, the game Hotel Barcelona beckons players into a once-luxurious hotel now transformed into a slaughterhouse sheltering America’s most twisted serial killers. The arrival of newcomer U.S. Marshal Justine at the hotel’s periphery unwittingly thrusts her into a harrowing ordeal, compelling her to confront the horrors that lie within-awakening the inner demon: Dr. Carnival.
Created by White Owls Studio and distributed by Cult Games, this game offers a thrilling 2.5D side-scrolling action adventure that seamlessly combines stylish hack-and-slash combat with excessively dynamic boss battles, a moody ambiance, and chaotic cooperative play.
Key Features
- A Floor for Every Fear – Fight your way through horror-themed hotel floors crawling with serial killers, each inspired by VHS-era horror icons. Expect jump scares, surreal twists, and buckets of blood.
- A Killer Split Personality – Justine’s mind isn’t her own. Dr. Carnival, the ancient entity inside her, grants devastating powers—if you’re willing to pay the price.
- Death is Only the Beginning – When you die, your past self becomes a shadowy ally. Each run builds strength and unleashes ghostly vengeance in this twisted take on rogue-lite mechanics.
- Cooperative Carnage – Bring backup. Up to four players can check in together for bloody online multiplayer action.
The game titled “Hotel Barcelona” will be released on September 26, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, as well as PC platforms including Steam and the Microsoft Store.
