1) Murderbot
Murderbot is a new science fiction series on Apple TV+, modeled after Martha Wells’ popular book series called The Murderbot Diaries. The plot revolves around Murderbot, an autonomous security robot (SecUnit), who finds itself unsure of its purpose. Despite this, it faithfully follows orders and safeguards humans, all while indulging in binge-watching its preferred shows like the Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon.
The popular Murderbot character has quickly earned a devoted fanbase, largely due to enthusiasts of the novels. The series skillfully blends action-comedy with science fiction in ways that are frequently unexpected or innovative. What’s perhaps most relatable about Murderbot is its eagerness to binge-watch soothing TV shows, which resonates strongly with modern sci-fi representations.
The first season of the series Murderbot debuted on May 16, 2025, and was quickly renewed for a second season by Apple TV+. Given that there are seven books to draw from, it’s likely that this is only the beginning. The cast includes Alexander Skarsgård, Noma Dumezweni, David Dastmalchian, Sabrina Wu, Akshay Khanna, Tamara Podemski, and Tattiawna Jones.
Murderbot is available to stream on Apple TV+.
2) Love, Death & Robots
The animated science fiction series titled Love, Death & Robots boasts a large creative team and is presented in an anthology style, with each installment offering a standalone storyline. Conceived by Tim Miller, the talented contributors are encouraged to weave any sci-fi narrative they wish as long as it revolves around love, death, or robots in some capacity. Although the individual tales have no direct connections, three recurring robots have made an appearance throughout the series, making them a popular feature among viewers.
In Love, Death & Robots, multiple writers aren’t the only ones contributing captivating narratives – animators, voice actors, and designers also take turns for various stories. It’s no wonder that this series has garnered numerous awards from the Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards.
At present, fans of “Love, Death & Robots” can enjoy a total of four seasons, which equates to 45 episodes. The latest season was released in May 2025, making now an ideal moment to catch up on all the current content as we eagerly anticipate updates about future installments.
Love, Death & Robots is available to stream on Netflix.
3) Fallout
In a remarkable transformation, several popular video game series have been adapted into captivating television shows, and “Fallout” is one such success. The narrative unfolds in a future ravaged by nuclear devastation, leaving behind a world unrecognizable from what was once human civilization. Enter Lucy MacLean, who has spent her life hidden safely within Vault 33, an underground sanctuary. However, when her father disappeared, Lucy embarked on a heroic mission to find him. Unbeknownst to her, the world above held many surprises in store, making this journey a real eye-opener for her.
It’s fair to conclude that the adaptation of Fallout faced considerable anticipation, and overall, it managed to meet these expectations quite well. The show has been highly praised by fans for its ability to breathe life into their cherished world. This includes capturing the gritty sci-fi Western atmosphere along with the peculiar details that come with living above ground. As expected, Fallout has earned several Emmy Award nominations, including nods for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
The television series called “Fallout” is a powerful and dark science fiction show, which has been receiving much attention. Currently, only the first season of Fallout has been released, but Season Two is set to premiere later in this year. The main cast includes Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Walton Goggins.
Fallout is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
4) Star Trek: Strange New Worlds
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but echo the widespread acclaim that Star Trek consistently receives, positioning it among the greatest science fiction franchises ever created. While the original series is undeniably a timeless classic, the franchise has also expanded with compelling new additions like Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
Interestingly enough, this series is actually a spin-off from another contemporary Star Trek show, Star Trek: Discovery. The storyline centers around the legendary Captain Christopher Pike in his formative years, offering a fresh and captivating take on the Star Trek universe.
Fans of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds can enjoy three seasons so far, but Season Four will be the last one with just six episodes in total. This series features an impressive cast including Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, Rebecca Romijn, Jess Bush, Christina Chong, Celia Rose Gooding, Melissa Navia, Babs Olusanmokun, Bruce Horak, and Martin Quinn.
For enthusiasts who appreciate this contemporary spin on “Star Trek”, there’s a wealth of additional material to explore, such as “Star Trek: Discovery”, “Star Trek: Picard”, and “Star Trek: Lower Decks” (an animated series). Interestingly, all these shows are either wrapping up or are nearing their end, leaving fans wondering what Paramount+ might have in store for the future of “Star Trek”.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is available to stream on Paramount+.
5) Silo
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I can’t help but express my excitement for ‘Silo’, a captivating sci-fi series gracing our screens courtesy of Apple TV+. This gripping production is adapted from Hugh Howey’s trilogy, ‘Silo’, consisting of ‘Wool’, ‘Shift’, and ‘Dust’. The storyline unfolds in a chilling dystopian future where Earth has grown inhospitable for humans, leading us to seek refuge in subterranean bunkers, or as they’re known here – silos. At the heart of this tale is Juliette Nichols, an ingenious engineer who finds herself embroiled in a perplexing mystery within the silo. The deeper she delves, the clearer it becomes that there’s much more at play than meets the eye.
The series known as “Silo” offers two full seasons with a combined total of 20 episodes. In the end of 2024, Apple TV+ decided to extend the show for a third and fourth season. However, the upcoming fourth season will mark its conclusion. Among the talented cast members of “Silo,” you’ll find Rebecca Ferguson, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Tim Robbins, Harriet Walter, Avi Nash, along with several others.
Silo is available to stream on Apple TV+.
6) 3 Body Problem
The “Three-Body Problem” is a science fiction series inspired by Liu Cixin’s book series, “Rememberance of Earth’s Past.” Kickstarting this narrative is the mysterious deaths of several global scientists. A group then convenes to investigate this enigma and uncover the hidden danger menacing humanity. This menace, I must add, hails from beyond our planet, and the events leading up to this point can be traced back over several decades.
At present, only one season of “3 Body Problem” has been released. Yet, the series has been given the green light for a second and third season by Netflix. The show boasts a talented cast consisting of Jovan Adepo, John Bradley, Rosalind Chao, Liam Cunningham, Eiza González, Jess Hong, Marlo Kelly, Benedict Wong, and Zine Tseng.
3 Body Problem is available to stream on Netflix.
7) Severance
Severance delivers a chilling blend of psychological thriller and sci-fi elements that sometimes feels unsettlingly realistic. The show takes place in a dystopian corporate world, where entities like Lumon Industries wield more influence than they publicly acknowledge. One of their groundbreaking innovations is the “severance” process, which involves a swift brain surgery to divide an employee’s life into two distinct parts: their professional persona and their personal one. This supposedly helps protect company secrets while promoting work-life balance, but it’s hard not to question its validity.
The narrative focuses on a team of former workers, often referred to as Innies, as they grapple with an insurmountable predicament they’ve found themselves in. The show has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as nominations for Best Drama Series and multiple acting nods for its talented cast.
The TV series “Severance” currently has two seasons out, with a third season having been approved by Apple TV+. Given that the second season was released this year, fans might need to be patient before receiving more episodes (although let’s hope the wait won’t be as long as the three-year gap between seasons one and two). The show features an impressive cast, including Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, Dichen Lachman, Patricia Arquette, and Christopher Walken.
Severance is available to stream on Apple TV+.
