2019’s film “Toy Story 4″ follows the adventure of Bonnie’s toys, including Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and their companions. They embark on a family road trip that brings them face-to-face with Bo Peep (Annie Potts) once again, who was previously lost. This movie also introduces a new set of characters such as the tough-talking carnival duo Ducky and Bunny (voiced by Keegan Michael-Key and Jordan Peele), the petite law enforcement toy Giggle McDimples (Ally Maki), Canadian stuntman action figure Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves), the vintage antagonist doll Gabby Gabby (Christina Hendricks), and Forky (Tony Hale), a homemade plastic spork created by Bonnie that questions his purpose, leading him to think he’s trash instead of a toy.
Likewise, Hale initially felt that his portrayal of Forky was being underestimated, but when the movie’s initial trailer came out, it became clear that the actor from “Arrested Development” and “Veep” continued to have significance in the story.
I didn’t realize I was still part of the Toy Story 4 movie until I heard my voice in the trailer. It wasn’t until then that it hit me,” Hale said to PEOPLE. “Up until that point, I was thinking they would cut me out or replace me with a bigger star.
In a delightful twist of events, the character Forky, voiced by Hale, gained immense popularity. Consequently, he continued to lend his voice in the Disney+ series titled “Forky Asks a Question” and another show called “Pixar Popcorn“.
In simpler terms, when Hale mentions playing in a world of Forky from Toy Story, she is emphasizing the charm of simplicity, which makes children’s books appealing to both kids and adults. Specifically, she appreciates that Forky was made by a child, using basic materials like a spork, pipe cleaners, and popsicle sticks.
Hale remarked about the curious Forky, ‘There was such a captivating innocence and freshness about him, it was truly breathtaking.’
Tony Hale Teases Toy Story 5
The actor who voices Iron Man and his pals in the upcoming Toy Story 5 movie has already recorded his dialogue for the summer release. However, he was able to verify information that’s already been made public – essentially, the story revolves around toys facing off against technology.
Hale hinted, “They’ve shared parts of the script with me, but what I’ve seen is intriguing. I prefer to maintain the element of surprise for Toy Story 5.
Similar to Toy Story 4, the upcoming film introduces a chattering tablet named Lilypad (voiced by Anna Faris) and an intelligent toy known as Smarty Pants (also voiced by Conan O’Brien). Additionally, it presents around 50 defective commemorative Buzz Lightyear action figures that have become stuck in ‘toy mode’, causing quite a few troubles for the characters.
In last year’s D23 convention, writer-director Andrew Stanton expressed that these characters offer a distinctive viewpoint on childhood and life navigation. Throughout the Toy Story series, the main function of the toys has always been to provide support for their young owners. In Toy Story 5, this task becomes even more challenging when our toy group encounters the latest craze among kids: electronic gadgets.
Nowadays, toys face tough rivals like smartphones, tablets, and advanced technology everywhere. So, in this new era, it’s more about toys and technology coming together. Stanton hinted at this, and Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.
