After approximately a year since the finale of Gege Akutami’s acclaimed series “Jujutsu Kaisen” concluded its six-year journey in Shonen Jump, fans have been left with bittersweet feelings, despite some differing opinions on the ending. As we eagerly anticipate news about Season 3 of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” which is projected for release in 2026, it’s exciting to know that Gege Akutami has already revealed plans for a brand-new manga series. Here’s what we currently understand about this upcoming project.
I’m thrilled to share some exciting news as an ardent manga enthusiast! It appears that our beloved Gege Akutami is set to unveil a brand-new manga series in Shonen Jump Issue 41, slated for release on September 8th, 2025. The title of this upcoming masterpiece is Mojuro, though the official English version still remains under wraps. Here’s what really gets me pumped: the first chapter will span an impressive 54 pages!
Unlike his previous work, Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege will only be penning the storyline for this new series. Instead, the talented Yuji Iwasaki from Cypher Academy will bring the illustrations to life. While we’re still waiting for an official announcement, it seems that international fans of Jujutsu Kaisen might get a chance to read this fresh tale digitally via Manga Plus, Viz Media, and the Shonen Jump Plus app! Keep your fingers crossed! 🤞🏼💪🏼✨
Gege Akutami Announced New Manga Series “Mojuro”
Beginning on September 8th, the creator of “Jujutsu Kaisen,” known as Gege Akutami, will launch a new manga series in Weekly Shonen Jump issue 41! The artwork for this upcoming series is by Yuuji Iwasaki, who works at Cypher Academy. This new manga will be a temporary serialization.

From where I stand, though Manga Mogura doesn’t explicitly disclose the origin, a buzzing online leak suggests that the information might stem from the final pages of Issue 40 of Shonen Jump, scheduled for release this coming Friday, September 1st, 2025. It’s common practice for Shonen Jump to reveal previews for upcoming issues on their official Japanese website, so fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer to learn if Gege Akutami will make his return.
The upcoming series might deviate slightly from what fans are accustomed to, as Akutami isn’t handling the artwork this time around. However, this shift could prove beneficial, allowing Akutami’s writing to flourish more freely without the pressure of Shueisha’s stringent deadlines. Moreover, there are indications that this new series could be a dark fantasy similar to “Jujutsu Kaisen.” It has the potential to fill the void left by its predecessor and perhaps even achieve global fame on par with it.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read on Manga Plus and Viz Media.
