It appears Judas, a long-in-development project, has shown some signs of progress this week as developer Ghost Story Games provided an update. In a recent statement, creative director Ken Levine admitted that they’ve been quiet due to the time and energy required for creating marketing materials such as trailers. However, he emphasized that their primary focus is on completing Judas.
Levine further mentioned that the team aims to reveal more about the game through blog posts that delve into specific aspects of the upcoming title. Moreover, they also unveiled a new key art for the game, which can be found above.
Ultimately, you’ll need to choose whom to direct your efforts towards, and potentially, there will be some individuals with whom you might unintentionally create distance.

In my role as an analyst, I’d rephrase that as follows:
“Judas is a first-person shooter game where you, as the player, assume the role of Judas himself, navigating a collapsing starship and interacting with the infamous ‘Big 3’. These characters each have distinct agendas, and while it’s possible to cultivate relationships with all, ultimately, one will be excluded.
Neglect them, and these characters will acquire new abilities designed to challenge you and disrupt the game’s dynamics. For instance, Tom, the security chief, can provide ‘Rent-a-Deputy’ robots for assistance in combat. However, if you antagonize him, these robots might turn against you instead.
Levine hints that more complex character-specific elements will be unveiled later. When this happens, you’ll find yourself faced with difficult decisions regarding whom to support and whom to alienate. This dynamic is deliberately designed to create emotional investment: we aim for the loss of one of these characters to feel like losing a friend. The Big 3 will vie for your favor and attention through various means, such as offering bribes, saving you in battle, engaging in verbal attacks against other characters, and sharing their deepest secrets. Yet, eventually, you’ll have to choose whom to trust and whom to betray.
Judas has been in development for a long, long time

Levine, who was the lead on BioShock Infinite which came out in 2013, later shut down Irrational Games, keeping a few staff members to start Ghost Story Games under Take-Two Interactive. A Bloomberg report from 2022 revealed that the unnamed game was initially planned for release in 2017 but faced multiple delays due to personnel departures caused by Levine’s leadership approach.
Take-Two’s financial results from February 2023 indicated that “Judas” could be released sometime before March 2025. As of August 28, 2025, a release date has yet to be announced, but it appears that Judas is moving closer to launch.
Levine stated that they were eager to share an exact release date, but it wasn’t quite finalized yet.
To ensure smooth communication and avoid any inconveniences, we aim to provide an accurate release date initially rather than having to adjust it later after announcement.

We aim to reveal more information about Judas soon, though we can’t confirm if it will be released in 2025 yet. The team is eagerly working towards the day when players can finally get their hands on it. We understand that release dates can sometimes shift, and we don’t want to have to change ours after announcing it. But remember, Judas won’t truly be a game until you all get to play it.
Intriguingly, the ideas behind this project are fascinating, and it certainly seems ambitious. We’ll have to wait and see how things unfold in the development process. When it does arrive, Judas will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC (Epic Games Store and Steam), and PlayStation 5.
On a related note, the development of BioShock has faced some challenges even after Ken Levine left the project. The studio, Cloud Chamber, has recently undergone layoffs, with Rod Fergusson, former head of Diablo at Blizzard Entertainment, now serving as the new studio head on the next BioShock.
