New WWE Champion Crowned Thanks to Injured Superstar Return and Shocking Debut at Night of Champions

The opening act of WWE’s Night of Champions was engaging, but it saved its most shocking moments for later. What followed was an epic clash between once-friends-turned-foes, but this wasn’t even the main event of the night. In a surprising turn, WWE crowned a new Champion during the match and an injured superstar made their long-awaited comeback after months out of action. The surprises didn’t end there, as shortly after a major WWE free agent inked a deal and made their TV debut, forming a powerful new faction within the company.

As a devoted fan, I was thrilled to witness the opening Championship bout, a long-standing rivalry between Jacob Fatu and Solo Sikoa for the United States Championship at Night of Champions. The animosity between them was palpable, with their history unfolding in an intense physical encounter. It lived up to every fan’s expectations as a raw display of strength, but it was evident that the crowd rooted for Jacob. Just when it seemed like Jacob had sealed his victory, Tonga Loa, a former ally and fellow member of the Bloodline, made a dramatic comeback from injury, adding an unexpected twist to the match.

Initially, it was JC Mateo who rushed into the ring ahead of others to assist Sikoa. However, while the referee was preoccupied with Mateo, a mysterious figure in a hood appeared and prevented Fatu from securing the victory. Loa hurled Fatu forcefully to the mat from the top rope, but miraculously, Fatu managed to avoid defeat by kicking out of the pin. Despite this, Sikoa still had one more surprise move to play.

In a surprising turn of events, Fatu executed a moonsault on Sikoa, aiming for the pin, but unfortunately, no referee was present to make the count. Moments later, a hidden figure seized Fatu by the neck and dragged him out of the ring, revealing none other than free agent signing Hikuleo. Hikuleo, who has been discreetly signed to WWE for some time now, recently made his debut in WWE during an untelevised match prior to SmackDown. Now, he’s officially on WWE television and causing quite a stir, forming an alliance with Sikoa.

In simpler terms, Hikuleo scolded Fatu, saying “You made a mistake; you had all the chances,” before seizing Fatu by the neck and performing a chokeslam onto the commentary table. The team managed to get Fatu back into the ring, where Sikoa pinned him, making Sikoa the new WWE United States Champion. This victory has formed another strong group in WWE that others will find tough to challenge.

We’ve got a GIANT problem here…

What’s Next?

From now on, I’ll be cheering for a revitalized Sikoa against whom Fatu will have to contend. Interestingly, he’s got Tonga Loa, JC Mateo, and Hikuleo standing by his side. The question is, when Tama Tonga recovers from injury, who will he choose to stand with? Before his injury, Tama was a partner in Fatu’s feud with Sikoa. If Tama returns and joins forces with Fatu once more, we might witness an even larger faction clashing against another, potentially involving Jimmy Uso as well, promising some thrilling group versus group encounters.

Lately, Jacob quickly stepped in to aid Jimmy when he found himself surrounded, and it’s worth considering that Sikoa has previously targeted Jimmy. Moving forward, Jacob may strive to reclaim his Title, but this seems challenging given his current disadvantaged position. For now, we can only anticipate further developments for everyone as the story unfolds on the next SmackDown. The latest results from Night of Champions are available below.
