Third Update on September 4, 2025 at 5:15 PM: After waiting for seven long years, an additional couple of hours seemed insignificant, didn’t it?
Hollow Knight: Silksong is now finally available to purchase on the PS5 and PS4, for £15.99/$19.99.
The game was initially set to launch at 7AM Pacific Time/3PM British Summer Time, but due to a significant mishap on Sony’s part, the game became available a few hours later on PlayStation platforms.
It’s important to note that things haven’t run smoothly for this independent success either; it caused temporary shutdowns at platforms such as Steam and the Nintendo eShop.
Update #2 [Thu 4th Sep 2025, 4pm]:
As a devoted fan, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the expansion of Hollow Knight: Silksong to platforms like PC and Nintendo Switch 2. I’ve been trying my best, refreshing multiple times, but unfortunately, as of now, it seems elusive on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, despite the scheduled release time having passed.
On Steam, there are numerous error messages L3 (e502) due to the PC version frequently crashing. In contrast, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 users can only view their wishlist for the game since it wasn’t possible to pre-order or pre-load the game. As a result, everyone on PlayStation platforms is attempting to buy the game simultaneously when it becomes available.
Update #1 [Thu 4th Sep 2025, 3:15pm]:
Given the seven years you’ve waited for Hollow Knight: Silksong, an additional half hour or so isn’t much, right? The highly anticipated sequel from Team Cherry was scheduled to go live at 3pm BST today, but as time has passed and the clock struck past that hour, it appears every storefront the game is set to launch on is experiencing significant delays.
Currently, when you look for the game on the PlayStation Store, nothing shows up. Previously, there was a wishlist page for it, but unfortunately, it no longer exists.
As a gaming enthusiast, I find myself in a predicament. The Steam platform seems to be temporarily out of order for PC gamers, leaving us with no purchase option. Meanwhile, Xbox players like me are also left empty-handed as we can’t buy the games directly from there. To add salt to injury, when I try to navigate through the Nintendo eShop, I’m met with an error message.
At long last, after over five years of anticipation by Hollow Knight enthusiasts, the highly anticipated sequel to the game has been released: Hollow Knight: Silksong is now available on various prominent platforms, including PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
Journey as the deadly insect known as the Hornet, explore a realm that thrums with silk and melody! Abducted and transported to an alien land, brace yourself for encounters with formidable adversaries and unravel age-old enigmas on your perilous climb towards the kingdom’s summit.
Seven years ago, Hollow Knight: Silksong was initially announced as a DLC for the first game, later growing into a full sequel. Despite several years of silence and uncertainty about its release, it’s now officially happening. For more details, check out our sister site Nintendo Life for an update on the project’s progress.
