In simple terms, the popular series “All Creatures Great and Small” is preparing for its sixth appearance on our screens, and we now have confirmation about its premiere date from the producers themselves.
Beginning Thursday, 25th September 2025 at 9 PM, the six-episode series inspired by James Herriot’s books, focusing on veterinarians and their families in rural Yorkshire during the mid-1900s, will make its debut on channel 5.
The new episodes promise fans more “heartwarming human and animal tales”.
However, on this occasion, we encounter the cherished Skeldale group in a unique predicament, as we become part of their story in the year 1945, right when the European war is about to conclude.
Returning to Darrowby brings us modern veterinary practices, larger households, and fresh acquaintances, as everyone eagerly anticipates a more prosperous and tranquil tomorrow.
In this series, you’ll find Herriot’s delightful characters venturing into fresh realms brimming with possibilities, not to mention an array of extraordinary creatures large and small, as well as each other.

Audience members can look forward to the news that Nicholas Ralph will once again play the character of veterinarian James Herriot, and Samuel West will resume his part as James’s partner in business, Siegfried Farnon.
Additionally, characters making their reappearance are Anna Madeley (from Deadwater Fell), Rachel Shenton (known as Helen Herriot), Callum Woodhouse (in the role of Tristan Farnon), Patricia Hodge (depicted as Mrs. Pumphrey), Tony Pitts (playing Richard Alderson) and Imogen Clawson (portraying Jenny).
In this latest edition, we’ve got some exciting new cast members joining us: Lucy-Jo Hudson (known for Hollyoaks and Wild at Heart), Gaia Wise (from The Dead of Winter and The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim), Jonathan Hyde (starring in The Brutalist and Titanic), Philip Martin Brown ( Waterloo Road, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier Spy) and Chris Gascoyne (famous for The Feud and Patience).
Here comes Season 6 of “All Creatures Great and Small” on the 5th channel, airing this Thursday, September 25th at 9 PM. If you haven’t seen the first five seasons yet, catch up with them on My5. And if you’d like to read James Herriot’s book series, head over to Amazon for a copy!
