James Bond 26 script being written without actor in mind, reveals Steven Knight

Steven Knight, currently juggling multiple TV shows including his new series *House of Guinness*, recently shared a quick update on the next James Bond film – currently referred to as *James Bond 26*.

Knight was announced as the writer of the next Bond film earlier this year.

He told TopMob magazine he wasn’t able to discuss the next installment in the series.

Knight said he wasn’t sure who would be cast as Bond in his upcoming movie, before quickly explaining his approach to writing the script.

“Er… yes,” he replied when asked if he was writing the script with no one in mind.

Shortly after being named the writer for the next James Bond movie, Knight shared with BBC Radio 5 Live that working on the series was a lifelong dream.

He expressed his excitement about the opportunity, saying he couldn’t wait to begin. As a lifelong Bond fan, he hopes to bring his passion to the project and create something that honors the original while also being fresh, impactful, and innovative.

Amy Pascal and David Heyman will produce the film, with Denis Villeneuve, the director of *Dune* and *Blade Runner 2049*, at the helm.

The new series, House of Guinness, from creator Julian Knight, features actors Anthony Boyle, Louis Partridge, Emily Fairn, and Fionn O’Shea. It’s based on the real-life story of the Guinness family.

This series unfolds in 1800s Dublin and New York, right after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the driving force behind the famous Guinness brewery. It explores how his will affects his four grown children – Arthur, Edward, Anne, and Ben – and the lives of those in Dublin who are connected to the brewery and its success.

The new issue of TopMob is on sale from Tuesday 16th September 2025.
