See Sydney Sweeney & Amanda Seyfried’s Chilling The Housemaid Trailer

You’ll get locked into The Housemaid starting with the very first trailer.

As a huge fan of Freida McFadden’s books, I was so excited to finally see the trailer for the movie adaptation! It dropped on September 16th, and it gives us our first look at Sydney Sweeney as Millie, the maid, and Amanda Seyfried as Nina, her employer. I’ve been waiting for this for ages!

Although Amanda’s character, Nina, tells Sydney’s Millie, “I want you to feel safe here,” the trailer suggests safety will be hard to find. It quickly cuts to scenes of screaming, broken glass, and general chaos.

Later, Millie says in a voiceover, “I need this job. I can’t lose it, I don’t want to go back.”

It’s still unclear what sacrifices she’ll make to hold onto this job. The recently released preview, starring Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone, only hints at the intense drama to come in the film, which hits theaters on December 19th.

The storyline has many unexpected developments and surprises,” Sydney shared in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, alongside Amanda. Amanda added that the plot is even more complex and unpredictable than viewers might anticipate.

Director Paul Feig, known for directing Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in *A Simple Favor*, shared that while they aimed to stay true to the source material, they also included some unexpected changes. He agreed with his actresses on this approach, noting, “We’re very respectful of the book, but then we got a few surprises.”

The director of *Ghostbusters* has praised Sydney and Amanda’s work on *The Housemaid*, a film about the complicated experiences of Millie, who takes a job at the Winchester family’s Long Island mansion after being released from prison.

Paul recently told *People* that the two actors are incredibly talented and have fantastic chemistry, quickly drawing viewers into the story. He added that watching their characters, Millie and Nina, develop a relationship throughout the film is especially exciting.

He also praised the Euphoria star and Mamma Mia! actress for being “true joys to work with.”

Paul explained that both actors were incredibly adaptable and a joy to work with, fully embracing the story’s unpredictable nature. He added that they both seemed to naturally fit into their difficult roles and made them their own.

He added, “We couldn’t have had a better time together making this movie.”

Ahead of The Housemaid’s Dec. 19 release, read on to see the other movies set to premiere soon.
