Sony announced that an update launching on September 17th will add features first revealed in July, including the ability to connect multiple DualSense controllers and a power-saving mode for the PlayStation console. They’ve also updated their PlayStation Blog post to list the games that will work with the new power-saving feature.
First, updates are coming to *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach*, *Demon’s Souls*, and *Ghost of Yōtei* to add support for a new Power Saver mode on PS5. You’ll be able to turn this mode on through the System Settings. As previously announced, games that don’t receive the update won’t experience any changes to their power usage, graphics, or performance.
Keep in mind that demanding games, like those played with the PlayStation VR2 headset, won’t work with Power Saver mode. The official help page also mentions that other features within games might be limited when Power Saver is on. This depends on each game and how its developers have set up power-saving options.
The feature allowing DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers to connect to several devices initially launched as a beta test in July. It lets players seamlessly switch between playing games on a PlayStation 5 and devices like PCs, Macs, or phones, without needing to constantly disconnect and reconnect the controller.
According to a Sony executive, many PlayStation 5 accessories, like the DualSense controller, work with devices beyond the PS5 – including PCs, Macs, and phones. Sony aims to make gaming more convenient and adaptable by ensuring its accessories are compatible with multiple platforms.
This update lets you connect up to four devices to the controller at the same time, and easily switch between them using the DualSense controller itself. You can also use this feature to switch between playing a game directly on your PS5 and playing that same game on your PC using Remote Play.
After you connect a device to your DualSense controller, it’s saved into one of four memory slots. You can easily switch between these slots by holding down the PS button and one of the face buttons – like the triangle or circle button. Each combination of the PS button and a face button corresponds to a different slot.
The controller’s lights show which pairing slot is active. One light indicates the first slot is in use, while four lights mean the fourth slot is being used.
