Pamela Warner is recalling her son Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s final moments.
Bill Cosby’s mother recently revealed details about his son’s death at age 54. He tragically drowned in July.
Pamela remembered telling Robin Roberts in an interview on *Good Morning America* on September 16th that they were in water around chest or waist deep. She explained there was a strong current, and her son wasn’t a strong swimmer and didn’t know how to handle it.
She explained that he was with another man, but that man was a stronger swimmer and managed to save himself. Unfortunately, Malcolm couldn’t.
When Malcolm passed away, some people thought his young daughter, whose name his wife Tenisha Warner has chosen to keep private, was with him. However, his mother clarified that wasn’t true, though sadly, his daughter did see him experiencing the medical emergency.
Pamela explained, “She was standing on the beach, not in the water.” She added that children experience events in their own way, and watching them attempt to revive him must have been incredibly upsetting for her. She loved her father very much; he meant the world to her.”
Adding of Malcolm’s daughter and wife, “So they’re both in deep grief.”
While mourning the passing of the *Malcolm and Eddie* star, Pamela has been comforted by their close, personal relationship.
She expressed deep gratitude for the chance to be his mother, and shared that she felt a sense of closure about everything that had happened. She had no regrets – no lingering thoughts of what might have been or things she wished she’d done differently. She felt their relationship as mother and son had run its full course and was complete.
Amid her son’s success in acting, music and poetry, she expressed her desire for fans to honor him.
She shared on *GMA* that she hopes people will continue to honor his memory and support the online page dedicated to his ongoing legacy. She encouraged everyone to show love and give what they can, striving to be better people – which is what he always wanted and worked towards. She believes we can all improve ourselves.
I was absolutely glued to the screen when Pamela did that interview! It just happened a few days after Malcolm’s wife, bless her heart, announced the River & Ember Foundation – such a beautiful way to remember him. It felt like everything was happening at once, and I couldn’t get enough!
She shared a photo from their 2017 wedding on Instagram September 12th, expressing her gratitude for the support she’s received during a difficult time. She explained that the next day was their anniversary and she was finally ready to share the story of their love. She fondly remembers her husband’s laugh and how he always made space for all of her feelings and aspirations.
She went on to say that they would continue the work she and her husband started-helping children develop their talents and encouraging young artists to express themselves freely.
