Hulu Added Two Huge Shark Attack Movies After the Jaws 50th Anniversary (But They’re Nothing Like the Spielberg Classic)

Shark movies were especially popular this summer. The independent film *Dangerous Animals* received good reviews and generated buzz, and 2025 marked the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s classic *Jaws*, which essentially created the summer blockbuster. *Jaws* was re-released in cinemas – and surprisingly did well at the box office – alongside plenty of commemorative merchandise. With all the celebrations, people were clearly thinking about sharks, and Hulu responded by adding several popular shark-themed movies to its streaming library.

Hulu recently added both *The Meg* and *Meg 2: The Trench*, offering viewers two thrilling shark movies. Although these films feature a massive shark, they’re quite different from the classic movie *Jaws*.

Spielberg’s *Jaws* was a realistic thriller about a town terrorized by a shark, but *The Meg* is about much larger, prehistoric sharks called Megaladons. Both movies are wildly over-the-top and fun, though *The Meg* focuses on delivering simple, exciting thrills.

I was so excited when *The Meg* came out in 2018, and it totally delivered at the box office, bringing in over $529 million worldwide! Then, five years later, the sequel came out and still managed to pull in almost $398 million – pretty impressive!

New Movies Streaming on Hulu

Hulu has added a lot of new movies and shows this September, including *The Meg* and *Meg 2: The Trench*. Like most months, the biggest wave of new content arrived on the 1st. Highlights from those additions include popular titles like *How to Train Your Dragon*, *Clueless*, *Jennifer’s Body*, *School of Rock*, and *Mean Girls*, among others.
