Who says Demi Lovato isn’t thrilled for Selena Gomez?
Demi Lovato recently shared her positive feelings about Selena Gomez when asked about their time together on *Princess Protection Program*. During an interview on Jake Shane’s podcast, Demi expressed how happy she is to see what Selena has accomplished in life, and confirmed she’d heard Selena speak kindly about her.
Demi confirmed to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live that she’d heard parts of what the other person said on a podcast and thought it was very sweet. She expressed her happiness for them, noting they are engaged, and wished them all the best.
She also talked about Selena’s latest album, *I Said I Love You First And You Said It Back*, made in collaboration with her fiancé, Benny Blanco.
Demi said she loved the album, calling it “really, really great.” She especially enjoyed the song ‘Bluest Flame,’ which she identified as her favorite.
Selena and Demi have known each other for a long time, first meeting on the set of *Barney and Friends* in 2001 when they were both seven years old. They both rose to fame on the Disney Channel and later co-starred in the 2009 movie *The Princess Protection Program*.
As a lifestyle expert, I often talk about the importance of long-term friendships, and it’s so relatable to see how relationships evolve over time. Recently, I was reflecting on growing up alongside Demi Lovato and the other stars from our Disney Channel days – it’s amazing to look back and see how we all navigated those coming-of-age years together. Our friendship, like most, had its moments, but it’s been a really meaningful part of my journey.
Selena explained to Jake on the August 6th episode of *Therapuss* that it’s amazing to see former classmates like the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and Zendaya succeeding in their careers. She mentioned how cool it is to watch people she grew up with ‘do their thing.’
He definitely plans to be at her wedding, saying he’ll be there as long as it doesn’t conflict with family or work commitments.
He added, “I’m very excited.”

Demi isn’t the only person thrilled about Selena getting engaged to the man she loves. David Henrie, who acted as her onscreen brother in *Wizards of Waverly Place*, recently talked about how much he’s enjoyed spending time with Selena and her fiancé.
David shared with *Parade* magazine that he’s glad to see her smile often when they’re together, saying it makes him very happy.
He confirmed he’ll definitely be at her wedding, unless something unavoidable with work or family comes up.
He added, “I’m very excited.”

Don’t worry if you haven’t gotten a wedding invitation from Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco yet! While Ed Sheeran jokingly mentioned an invitation during a lie detector test with Vanity Fair, Benny has clarified that they haven’t set a date. He explained to Australia’s Today show that he talked about having a wedding and wanting guests to attend, but news outlets took it out of context. He assures Ed will be invited once they actually schedule the event. Benny also told Rolling Stone that Selena is constantly imagining their wedding, but they’re taking things one day at a time and enjoying the moment.
Ed isn’t the only famous face who’s been invited. You likely won’t have to wonder for long about who else Selena and Benny are inviting to their wedding.
Shortly after announcing their engagement in December 2024, Taylor Swift volunteered to help.
The 14-time Grammy winner and Selena’s close friend shared on Instagram, “I will be the flower girl!”
We definitely can’t forget Steve Martin and Martin Short! When Drew Barrymore jokingly suggested Selena’s *Only Murders in the Building* co-stars could officiate her wedding, Selena admitted she hadn’t even considered it. She *had* been thinking about who else could participate, though. On *The Drew Barrymore Show*, Selena shared that Martin Short is planning to give a speech. She also predicted Steve Martin would likely play the banjo, but believes Martin Short will deliver a really memorable speech.
As a huge fan, I’m so excited about Selena and Benny’s wedding! Everyone knows how much they adore each other, and I’ve been wondering about the music they’ll choose. Considering they’re both so involved in music, it makes perfect sense they’re really focusing on the soundtrack for their big day. Selena actually talked about it on *The Tonight Show* recently, saying they haven’t finalized anything yet, but making sure the music is amazing is a top priority, and she’s leaving that part to Benny – which is so sweet! I can’t wait to see (and hear!) what they come up with.
Selena Gomez isn’t a fan of traditional, large wedding cakes. In a recent TikTok video, she shared that when her wedding day arrives, she’d prefer a small cake just for her and her partner to save and enjoy later. Instead of a big cake, she envisions offering guests a different treat they can help themselves to whenever they’re ready. Surprisingly, her ideal dessert isn’t sweet at all – it’s her grandmother’s biscuits and gravy, which she considers the perfect treat!
While many couples have a first dance at their wedding, Selena Gomez doesn’t plan on having one. She explained on the podcast *Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware* that she feels embarrassed by the tradition. However, she *does* want to share a dance with her father at the reception.
Selena was talking about her maternal grandfather, the father of her mom, Mandy Teefey. Mandy and her husband, Brian Teefey, ran off to get married in 2006. Selena explained that her grandfather never had the chance to walk her mom down the aisle because Mandy spontaneously eloped in Las Vegas. They’ve been together ever since, having met when they were both 26, and Selena wanted to give her grandfather a special moment to experience that tradition.
