The secret surrounding John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) has been revealed, but the residents of Emmerdale are still far from safe.
Recent episodes of the ITV soap opera featured shocking revelations as Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) learned some disturbing secrets about his husband, John. These included John’s involvement in the murder of Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter) and the fact that he had been secretly holding Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) captive.
Ryan Hawley’s character, Robert Sugden-who is John’s half-brother and Aaron’s former husband-rushed to help Aaron. However, the situation escalated, and John ended up falling over a cliff with Aaron, intentionally making it look like Robert had pushed them both, motivated by jealousy.
Fortunately, Aaron woke up from his coma with full recall of the events, which revealed John’s involvement and caused him to flee.
On Friday’s episode, September 19th, Robert was released from prison after being found innocent. Meanwhile, John was secretly observing everything from somewhere in the village.
5 Emmerdale spoilers for this coming week
1. John Sugden prepares to murder his brother and love rival, Robert Sugden

Next week, police are swarming the village in an attempt to find the fugitive killer, John.
While authorities search for him, John is hiding at Keepers’ Cottage, waiting to confront his romantic competitor, Robert, and he has a syringe with him.
John overhears a conversation between Robert and their sister, Victoria, where she wonders if he ever truly cared about their family.
Conflicted, John flees the scene and heads to see someone else entirely…
2. John Sugden blackmails Caleb Miligan over Anthony’s murder

The person John turns to next is, in fact, Aaron’s uncle, Caleb Miligan (Will Ash).
Caleb wanted no part of John, but John-a medic with a dark secret-has leverage over him. When Caleb comes to the depot seeking help to flee the country, John reveals he knows Caleb was involved in the death of Anthony Fox.
Earlier this year, John assisted in concealing the fact that Anthony, who had sexually abused his daughter Ruby Miligan (played by Beth Cordingly) when she was a child, was murdered by her.
John moved Anthony’s body, seemingly to shield the Miligan-Dingles from trouble. Now, he’s the only person who knows its location.
John is trying to flee the country, and Caleb is facing a difficult choice: will he deceive Ruby and his family to help a dangerous criminal escape?
The next day, Caleb attempts to slip away, but Ruby stops him, clearly suspicious. Will Caleb make a mistake he’ll later regret?
3. Cain Dingle wants revenge

Cain Dingle is understandably enraged to learn that John killed Nate. At first, fueled by misplaced anger, he lashes out at his nephew, Aaron, who is still recovering.
Since Cain unintentionally assisted John in leaving the hospital, it’s clear he’s struggling with negative feelings about himself.
Just how far will Cain go to get justice for his late son?
4. Dr Liam Cavanagh and Dr Manpreet Sharma question John’s impact on the surgery

Okay, so John is still out there, and it’s really starting to get to Doctors Cavanagh and Sharma. They’re genuinely concerned that his actions at the surgery might have caused even *more* problems than we already know about. It’s a chilling thought, and honestly, it’s adding a whole new layer of dread to everything. They’re clearly worried there’s a lot more to uncover.
They decided to carefully examine the surgery, suspecting they might uncover even more troubling secrets.
Given all the health dramas that John created, could it come back to bite the doctors?
5. Mackenzie Boyd and Aaron Dingle recover in the aftermath of last week

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) has escaped John’s captivity, but both he and his close friend Aaron are deeply traumatized by the experience.
Mack goes to see Aaron in the hospital, and the two friends talk about their difficult experiences with John.
Given Mack’s previous suspicions about John, is it too early to say “I told you so”?
Later that week, Ruby checks in with Aaron and talks about how his experience with John mirrors her own feelings about Anthony. Aaron feels responsible for not recognizing John’s true nature, but Ruby comforts him, pointing out that they both were deceived.
Ruby and Chas believe John is dead, but Aaron still holds onto hope that his husband is alive.
