Marvel Studios has revealed that the upcoming Disney+ animated series, *Marvel Zombies*, will feature at least 14 characters fans already know from the Marvel Cinematic Universe – but with a zombified twist! This marks Marvel’s first R-rated animated show and is highly anticipated by MCU fans.
A new trailer for the *Marvel Zombies* series has been released, giving fans a look at many of the heroes and villains who will appear – including several characters transformed into zombies.
A new animated series, *Marvel Zombies*, is coming to Disney+ on September 24, 2025. It will feature familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Elizabeth Olsen, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, and Hailee Steinfeld. The show is a four-episode miniseries and continues the story from the popular zombie-themed episode of *What If…?* Season 1.
Every MCU Character Who Will Be a Zombie in Marvel Zombies
Scarlet Witch
Okay, so I’m really excited about this! Elizabeth Olsen is coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but with a seriously dark twist. She’s playing a zombie version of Scarlet Witch in this new *Marvel Zombies* series. Apparently, her character isn’t just *any* zombie, though – she’s basically the leader of the whole horde and everyone’s calling her ‘The Dead Queen.’ It sounds intense!
Clint Barton/Hawkeye
The trailer for *Marvel Zombies* shows that Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye, will be a significant zombie character in the new Disney+ series. While it’s unclear exactly how big his part will be, the trailer features him alongside other key characters like Okoye, Abomination, and Captain America.
Emil Blonsky/Abomination
Emil Blonsky, also known as the Abomination, will be a zombie in the upcoming Marvel Zombies series. He’ll have the same appearance as he did in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and She-Hulk. The trailer showed him with other zombie characters, seemingly in the middle of a fight and jumping through the air.
Nebula
It looks like Nebula will be among the zombies led by Okoye in the upcoming *Marvel Zombies* series. A quick shot in the trailer showed her standing with Okoye, who serves as second-in-command to Scarlet Witch.
Okoye
As we saw, Okoye will be second-in-command to Wanda in the zombie hierarchy of *Marvel Zombies*. The trailer showed her in a leadership role, directing groups of zombies.
Monica Rambeau/Photon
The trailer for *Marvel Zombies* only showed Monica Rambeau for a short time, but it did reveal she’ll be a zombie in the series. One scene also showed her with Okoye, suggesting she’ll be following her at some point in the story.
Ava Starr/Ghost
Ava Starr, also known as Ghost, has become a more prominent character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with appearances in *Thunderbolts* and a significant role planned for *Marvel Zombies*. However, a trailer for the *Marvel Zombies* series revealed a shocking fate for her: she is shown being cut apart by Blade.
Captain America (Steve Rogers)
The Captain America we all know – Steve Rogers – will reappear in *Marvel Zombies*, but with a terrifying twist. Forget the hopeful, all-American hero; this version is a mindless, flesh-eating zombie… and he’s lost the bottom half of his body.
Namor
Namor made a strong impression in *Black Panther: Wakanda Forever* and is set to reappear in *Marvel Zombies* as a zombie. The trailer featured a startling introduction to his undead version, with him screaming directly at the camera in a quick, shocking moment.
The trailer hinted at a possible showdown between Blade – played by a new actor, not Mahershala Ali or Wesley Snipes – and Namor in the upcoming series.
Thanos
It’s been six years since Thanos threatened the Avengers in *Avengers: Endgame*, but he’s still a major force in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While details are scarce about his role in *Marvel Zombies*, the trailer revealed he’ll be a zombie-and he’ll still have the powerful Infinity Gauntlet and Stones. That’s a truly dangerous combination!
Hank Pym
The outbreak of the Quantum Virus, which affected Earth’s heroes and everyone else, began with Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, making their inclusion in the series essential. The trailer showed Hank appearing as a tiny version of himself, flying with Janet.
Janet Van Dyne
Janet Van Dyne is responsible for the global zombie outbreak, as we’ve already discussed. Although she only appeared quickly in the trailer, she’s expected to play a significant role throughout the series.
Captain Marvel
Although Captain Marvel wasn’t featured in the trailer for *Marvel Zombies*, it’s been confirmed she’ll appear as a zombie in the series. While her specific part in the story is still a mystery, viewers can anticipate seeing her fight against some of the remaining human heroes.
Ikaris
Ikaris from *Eternals* wasn’t shown in the trailer for the new show, but Marvel officially released artwork confirming he’ll appear as a zombie. Given his strength, he’s expected to be a powerful and dangerous enemy for the surviving characters.
