Hideo Kojima seems to be trying his hand at everything, from films and podcasts to ambitious game ideas. But even among his diverse projects, his latest collaboration – designing a credit card – is surprising many people.
Kojima Productions is partnering with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group to launch a special credit card in Japan. Cardholders will earn rewards points redeemable for exclusive Kojima Productions merchandise and prizes, alongside standard credit card benefits.
Although the card is still being designed and will initially only be available in Japan, Kojima revealed its development during a 10th anniversary showcase, along with updates on OD and Physint. The card is currently planned for release in Japan sometime in the latter half of 2026.
It’s not unusual for video game companies to offer credit cards – PlayStation, for example, has one that gives you extra rewards when you purchase digital PS5 games. You can even personalize the card with characters from popular franchises like Uncharted, The Last of Us, and God of War.
The whole event was, naturally, about the games Kojima Productions has made and what they’re planning next, but Hideo Kojima just *had* to share one of his other, totally unexpected projects he’s working on too! He always keeps us guessing.
As we always say: never change, Hideo.
