Mario Kart World launched successfully with strong sales and good reviews, but it wasn’t perfect. Many players found the Free Roam mode frustrating because the game didn’t clearly show what challenges were available, making it tedious to find things to do. Luckily, Update 1.3.0 includes improvements that fix these issues and make the game much easier to navigate.
On September 23rd, a new update (version 1.3.0) was released for *Mario Kart World* and is currently being distributed to Nintendo Switch 2 consoles worldwide. This update includes several key improvements, with a major focus on enhancing the Free Roam mode. Players will now be able to see P Switches they’ve activated and Peach Medallions they’ve already found.
Mario Kart World Free Roam Updates
It might not seem like a huge change, but this is actually a significant improvement. Before, finding all of the P Switches and Peach Medallions was difficult because the game didn’t keep track of what you’d already collected. Now, the update lets you easily check your progress and see what’s still left to find right from the menu.
Update 1.3 brings some changes to UFOs in the open world. Now, you can transform into the character beamed down from a UFO, and it’s also become more likely to find UFOs while exploring. This should make it simpler to collect all the character skins. Plus, finding Peach Medallions will be a little easier, as the requirements for them to appear have been relaxed.
The 1.3 update includes several handy online improvements. Now it’s easier to join friends who are already playing Knockout Tour, letting you jump into online matches faster. Plus, you can now cruise around in Free Roam with a friend while you wait for online races to begin. While these updates might not drastically change the game, they should make playing *Mario Kart World* more enjoyable overall.
Honestly, the biggest thing for me in this update is the new multiplayer Free Roam. It’s awesome being able to just cruise around the world with my friends. But it’s not just about hanging out, they’ve also tweaked the racing! You’ll find item boxes popping up faster, and it’s way more forgiving if you mess up – you get a longer invincibility window after a crash or spinout. Plus, they’ve squashed a ton of bugs, which is always a win after a few months of playing!
It’s fantastic that Nintendo is adding significant improvements to its main game modes. Hopefully, they’ll keep releasing updates like these in the coming months. It would be amazing to be able to quickly jump into multiplayer Free Roam without waiting in a queue for an online race. Luckily, recent updates suggest they’re moving in that direction, so fans can be cautiously optimistic about what’s coming next.
