What happens in the new Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer?

The latest trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash shows Jake and his family still mourning the loss of Neteyam. They encounter a new Na’vi tribe, the Ash People, who are led by Varang. The new movie, Avatar: Fire and Ash, returns viewers to the world of Pandora, continuing the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) – now a Na’vi leader – his warrior wife Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their family.

The movie’s script was written by Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, and it’s based on a story created by them, along with Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno.

In addition to the previously announced cast, Sigourney Weaver plays Kiri, Oona Chaplin is Varang, Cliff Curtis portrays Tonowari, Britain Dalton plays Lo’ak, Trinity Bliss is Tuktirey, Jack Champion plays Miles “Spider” Socorro, Bailey Bass is Tsireya, and Kate Winslet plays Ronal.

James Cameron recently told Variety that the new movie expands on the world of Pandora, showing audiences areas they haven’t seen before. He described it as a visually stunning and exciting adventure with deeper, more impactful emotional challenges for the beloved characters.

The third Avatar movie, titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, is scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios on December 19, 2025.
