Xbox’s presentation at Tokyo Game Show 2025 has finished, and it was packed with exciting reveals. The show began with Phil Spencer attempting to speak Japanese – with a distinctly American pronunciation that was a bit amusing. He quickly switched back to English to explain what viewers could expect from the event.
Gungrave G.O.R.E.: Blood Heat

The popular action game Gungrave is returning with a complete overhaul! Gungrave G.O.R.E.: Blood Heat is a fresh start for the series, built with the powerful Unreal Engine 5. The game features completely redesigned combat and levels, updating the intense gunfights while preserving the original’s dark and gritty atmosphere. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to the series, you can jump right in and experience the signature dual-pistol action. It launches on November 12, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will be available on Game Pass from day one.
Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake

Originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2003 as Project Zero II, the beloved Japanese horror game Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly is getting a complete remake, which fans have been eagerly awaiting. The game centers around twin sisters who become lost in a deserted village and must use a special camera to fend off ghosts. It’s scheduled to launch in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and will be available on Game Pass from day one.
Animo

Okay, so I just saw this new game, Aniimo, and it looks *really* interesting! It’s an open-world RPG where you collect creatures – kind of like Pokémon or even Palworld – and you can actually control them in battle or even *fuse* with them! I’m super excited about that. It’s coming to Xbox and will be part of the Play Anywhere program, which is awesome, but we don’t have a release date yet. You can pre-register now though, so I did! I’m definitely keeping an eye on this one.
Monster Hunter Stories 1, 2 and 3

Great news for Monster Hunter fans! Not only is Monster Hunter Stories 3 coming to Xbox, but all the Stories games are now headed to the platform. If you’re new to the series, the Stories games offer a unique and charming experience, different from titles like Worlds or Wilds. You can pre-order Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter Stories 2 now for Xbox One and Xbox Series, and Monster Hunter Stories 3 will be available on March 13, 2026.
Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake

The beloved JRPG *Dragon Quest I & II* is making a comeback! Originally released in the 1980s, it’s been beautifully remade in HD-2D. Square Enix has also added a completely new area, called the Ocean Floor, making this more than just a simple update – it’s fresh content for longtime fans. You can play the game on Xbox Series X|S starting October 30, 2025, and it supports Xbox Play Anywhere.
Project Evilbane
One of the more surprising reveals was *Project Evilbane*, a new 4-player cooperative action RPG with a strong dark fantasy setting. It initially reminded me of *Crimson Desert*, giving you a sense of its overall style. The game isn’t expected to release until 2027, and it will be available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support.
Ninja Gaiden 4
The next *Ninja Gaiden* game, developed with PlatinumGames, is coming soon! The recent showcase highlighted two ways to play. Hero Mode is for players who want a more relaxed experience, offering features like automatic blocking and dodging, which you can adjust on the fly. For those seeking the original, challenging *Ninja Gaiden* gameplay, there’s Master Ninja Mode. This is a very difficult setting that you can’t change once you start. *Ninja Gaiden 4* will be available on October 21, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S and PC. It supports Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning you can play on both devices with one purchase, and will be available on day one with Game Pass.
Mistfall Hunter
Mistfall Hunter is a brand-new action RPG that blends player-versus-player combat with environmental challenges and extraction gameplay, all set in a dark fantasy world. At a recent event, the game’s director thanked players for participating in beta tests and showcased the Solemn Needles map – a haunting forest filled with powerful divine energy and a massive structure called the Divine Anchor. You can team up with up to three friends to battle enemies and compete against other players as you try to survive and extract valuable items. Mistfall Hunter is scheduled for release in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will support Xbox Play Anywhere.
Terminull Brigade
Terminull Brigade is a free-to-play sci-fi action game where you fight, collect loot, and try to survive in a constantly changing world. While we only saw a trailer, it looks promising and could be a strong competitor to the game Marathon. You can play it now on PC with Xbox Game Pass, featuring randomly generated challenges, upgrades, and the exciting risk of trying to extract valuable items. It will also be available on Xbox consoles in October 2025.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7

I could easily criticize *Call of Duty*, but it seems like Treyarch and Activision are actually listening to players and making good changes. They’ve been selective about partnerships to stay true to the game’s style, and the Zombies mode they recently showed off looks really promising. This has made me more excited about *Black Ops 7* than I was before. At a recent gaming event, the focus was on the multiplayer maps inspired by Japan, and they looked fantastic. *Black Ops 7* will be released on November 14, 2025, and will be available on Game Pass from day one.
Forza Horizon 6

Despite an early leak on Instagram, the official reveal of *Forza Horizon 6* was still exciting. The game looks fantastic, and it’s finally bringing Japan – a long-requested location – to life with vibrant cities, peaceful countryside, and famous landmarks like Mount Fuji. It’s scheduled to release in 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and will support Xbox Play Anywhere, meaning you can play on either device. Plus, it will be available on Game Pass from day one.
Quick hits from the showcase
We also got a glimpse of several other upcoming games. A new trailer dropped for Project 007: First Light, and Hotel Barcelona from Swery is releasing tomorrow. Rhythm Doctor is coming to Xbox with its unique rhythm gameplay, and Sudden Strike 5 continues the classic WWII strategy series. Double Dragon Revive showcased its story mode and unlockable features, with a planned release in 2025. Plus, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is available on Game Pass now, Starsand Island is scheduled for February 1, 2026, and Winter Burrow, a cozy survival game about mice, will launch on Xbox on November 12, 2025.
DLC / Expansions
There’s a lot of new content for existing game players! Microsoft Flight Simulator is adding a detailed update focused on Japan, including cities like Osaka and Kyoto, and famous landmarks like Mount Fuji and Tokyo Tower. Hitman: World of Assassination now features Bruce Lee as a special assassination target. Fallout 76 showcased updates based on player feedback and new in-game items. And Age of Mythology: Retold will receive the Heavenly Spear DLC on September 30, 2025, introducing Japanese mythology, units, and a new campaign.
