Following the announcement that Mega Man will be the last downloadable content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, Sega has shared a plan for the game’s future. Owners of the Season Pass can expect content featuring Minecraft characters – Steve, Alex, and the Creeper – plus SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick, to be released in the fourth quarter of 2025.
New playable characters will be released regularly, starting with Hatsune Miku, who is available now. Joker from Persona 5 and Ichiban Kasuga from Like a Dragon will be added later, and each will be featured in their own special, limited-time events.
In early 2026, along with the paid *Pac-Man* and Ghosts DLC, three new playable characters will be added as a free bonus. The second quarter of 2026 will bring *Mega Man* and Proto Man, plus four more free characters to play. Later in 2026, during the third quarter, content based on *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem* and *Avatar Legends* will be released, alongside two additional free characters.
New free characters come with a new vehicle, emotes, and sounds. Paid characters get all of that, plus a brand new course to play on. We’ll share more information soon about which classic Sega characters are coming to the game!
You can play *Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds* on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch. We’ve posted our review, which you can find here. Plus, it’s scheduled to be released on the new Nintendo Switch 2 later this year.
Get ready for even more content coming to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds! Owners of the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive exclusive characters, vehicles, and tracks through the Season Pass. Plus, all players can look forward to free content updates through 2026. Keep an eye out for more details!
