Emmerdale viewers learned on Monday, September 29th, 2025, that Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) has a hidden connection to the new character Kev, played by Chris Coghill, who previously starred in EastEnders.
Last week, Robert showed support for his ex-husband, Aaron Dingle, following the departure of Aaron’s husband – and Robert’s half-brother – John Sugden.
Okay, so things were already pretty confusing, but get this – there’s a huge twist coming! It’s totally unexpected and throws everything off.
Robert and Aaron had agreed to be just friends, but Robert is clearly happy about a text message he received from Aaron, as he’s seen smiling at his phone.
Robert is surprised to receive messages from a mysterious person, and even more shocked when Kev shows up at his door, having been directed there by Nicola King.
After making sure no one in the village could see them, Robert let Kev inside. Though surprised, Robert seemed truly glad to see him.
We soon learn more about Robert and Kev’s connection, and viewers are in for a surprise with two big reveals about Kev. However, we won’t spoil them for those who plan to watch on ITV1.
By the time Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins) arrives home, she clocks Robert and Kev holding hands.
Once Kev is gone, Robert needs to fill Vic in on everything. While explaining how he first met Kev in prison, he accidentally reveals the last major plot twist of the episode.
Now that Vic knows Robert plans to eventually try again with Aaron, both she and the audience are wondering how Kevin will affect their relationship.
