Brotato post-launch development moved to Evil Empire

The Rogue Prince of Persia developer Evil Empire is now leading the ongoing development of Brotato, the popular roguelike action shooter created by Blobfish, the company revealed. Brotato has sold millions of copies.

As a long-time Dead Cells player, I’ve always appreciated how much support Evil Empire gave the game, especially with the awesome “Return to Castlevania” DLC. What’s really cool is that the team at Evil Empire actually *started* because of this kind of work – they’re ex-Motion Twin devs who wanted to focus on keeping games they love alive and adding new stuff for the community. They were basically built to do exactly this – support games and work *with* players to bring fresh content to titles we all enjoy.

“We’re really looking forward to seeing how the game develops with this skilled team leading the way, and the new ideas they’ll contribute,” said Blobfish CEO Thomas Gervraud in a press release. “But most of all, I can’t wait to get back to playing Brotato and enjoying it!”

I’m so hyped for the first update to Brotato in October! They’ve given us a little preview, and it looks like we’re getting a new enemy called “The Gobbler” – it seems like it’s going to be a real challenge!

Here is a brief overview of the game, via Evil Empire:

Brotato came out in 2023 and has quickly become popular, attracting over 10 million players worldwide on PC, consoles, and mobile devices. The already well-developed game, which can be enjoyed alone or with friends, is getting continued support from Evil Empire. They’re planning to add regular, significant updates with fresh content and even more features that make Brotato a great roguelike experience. Knowing roguelike games well, Evil Empire will carefully integrate these additions – they won’t just throw them in randomly (like putting tuna on a baked potato – seriously, who does that?).

Brotato is now released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC through Steam, and mobile devices like iOS and Android.
