Eric Dane Vows to Fight “Until the Last Breath” Amid ALS Battle

Eric Dane is not going down without a fight.

The Grey’s Anatomy star, who announced he had ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) back in April, talked about what he hopes for the future with his daughters, Rebecca Gayheart’s children Billie Beatrice, 15, and Georgia Geraldine, 13, while battling this difficult illness.

“I want to let everyone know,” Eric, 52, said to California congressman Eric Swalwell in a TikTok video. The politician shared the video on September 29, following their meeting in Washington D.C. “I have two daughters at home. I hope to see them graduate from college, get married, and perhaps have grandchildren.”

The Euphoria actor also said, “I really want to be present for everything. That’s why I’ll keep trying as long as I possibly can.”

Oh my gosh, you won’t *believe* what happened! Eric, along with some amazing doctors and people from I Am ALS, actually got to talk to Congressman Swalwell! They were explaining how desperately we need more federal funding for research into this awful disease – you know, the one that attacks the nerve cells in your brain and spinal cord, making it impossible to move? It’s also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, and it’s just… heartbreaking. They really emphasized that it’s incurable, and we *have* to find a way to help! I’m just so hopeful that this conversation will make a difference.

“Doctors don’t want to diagnose anyone with ALS,” Eric explained. “It frequently takes a long time to get a diagnosis, and that often means patients can’t participate in clinical trials. That’s why Act for ALS is so beneficial – it makes access to resources and trials easier for everyone.”

Eric’s trip to Washington, D.C. is his first public appearance after he was unable to attend the 2025 Emmys last month, where he was scheduled to present an award.

Ever since Eric told everyone about being sick, it’s been so inspiring to see how it’s actually *fueled* him! Seriously, it’s not just about him anymore – he’s said himself that it’s made him fight even harder for his family and everything he’s working towards. It’s like, the diagnosis didn’t break him, it just made him more determined. I’m telling you, it’s amazing to witness.

He explained, with tears in his eyes during a June interview with Good Morning America, that he feels upset because he lost his father at a young age, and he fears a similar situation – being separated from his own daughters while they are still young. “Ultimately,” he said, “I just want to be with my family and, if possible, continue working a little.”

And through it all, he’s not slowing down.

“I’m committed to this for as long as possible,” Eric shared with TopMob News in June. He added, “I genuinely enjoy being at work. While there have been some challenges along the way, I’m feeling positive overall. I try to stay optimistic, and ultimately, that’s what’s most important to me.”

The former star of Total Bellas shared that one of her breast implants moved after being hit in the chest by Piper Niven, another WWE wrestler, during a match in July 2025.

“It’s okay,” she reassured her sister, Bella Garcia at the time. “We’ll get it fixed eventually. I told the doctor, ‘Now that I’m newly divorced, as soon as I retire, I’ll come back to you and we’ll make sure these horses look their best, because they’re going to be competing again soon, and they can’t look like this.’”

The 12 Years a Slave actress received a diagnosis of uterine fibroids-harmless growths that form within or near the uterus-in 2014, which was also the year she earned an Oscar for her role in the film.

She didn’t share her diagnosis publicly until 2025, when she wrote on Instagram that she had been “suffering in silence” for over ten years. It had been a long and private struggle. This marked the first time she spoke openly about her health.

She explained that when girls enter puberty, they’re often told that periods are supposed to be painful, and that this pain is just an unavoidable part of being female. She added, “We often deal with this challenging experience on our own, even though it impacts so many of us.”

In July 2025, the Daisy Jones & The Six star revealed she needed to be hospitalized for a hernia-which is a weak spot in the abdominal or groin muscles-and explained it was caused by wearing very tight pants.

Someone on X, which used to be Twitter, messaged me, saying, “Suki, you never tweet anymore!” And honestly? It got me thinking. I replied, “Have you ever stopped to consider that I wore pants so tight six months ago it actually gave me a hernia, and I’ve been too afraid to mention it?” It’s been a rough few months, and sometimes you just don’t share everything, you know?

The Beverly Hills, 90210 actor shared in April 2025 that he was getting better after a surgery to fix his appendix, which was close to rupturing.

“Last week, I began experiencing stomach pain,” Brian shared in an Instagram video. “I went to the emergency room and discovered I had a perforated appendix-it hadn’t quite ruptured, but it was very close.”

He added, “I’m on the road to recovery. It’s not an easy process. This is my first major surgery.”

The Racing Louisville midfielder went down shortly after the start of her team’s game against the Seattle Reign on September 14th at Lumen Field in Seattle.

According to Reuters, the United States Women’s National Team player was seen slowly sitting down on the field with a teammate supporting her, just as the referee signaled for medical staff to evaluate her condition. She then collapsed a few seconds later. Trainers rushed to her side.

According to a post on X later that evening, the National Women’s Soccer League stated that Savannah received immediate medical attention on the field and was taken to a nearby hospital for more tests. The league also reported that she is currently stable and alert.

Adam Devine revealed that he continues to experience effects from injuries he suffered as a child. When he was 11 years old, he was hit by a cement truck, and the consequences of that accident are still felt today.

Honestly, it’s been incredibly tough,” I shared on the In Depth With Graham Bensinger podcast back in 2025. “I’ve been dealing with spasms all over my body, and for a period of time, the doctors were actually telling me I was facing a life-threatening situation-they said I could be dying, and that was within just the last year.”

He mentioned that pain is often temporary, explaining, “My body has all these things that are a little wonky and a little wrong with it.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I was *so* worried when I heard! Apparently, our Bachelor Nation fave had to go to the hospital, and it was awful! He actually said he was crawling on all fours because his back pain was just *so* bad. It got really intense during an RV trip with a friend, can you imagine?! I’m just glad he’s getting the help he needs. It sounded terrifying!

“Currently, I still have a tingling sensation in my knees and toes, which is really strange,” he explained on a March 2025 episode of his Trading Secrets podcast. “To give you some context, I don’t want to sound arrogant, but just two or three weeks ago, maybe a month ago, I was squatting around 295 pounds. And now, I can’t even do a squat on that foot. I can’t do a single-leg squat; I just fall over. It feels like I’ve had a stroke or something.”

But with the help of a back specialist and some steroids, he added, “We’re on the mend.”

Real Housewives of Orange County’s Gina Kirschenheiter revealed that her former husband, Matt Kirschenheiter, had a heart attack in March 2025. Fortunately, he pulled through and is recovering.

The 30 Rock actor experienced a medical issue while attending a New York Knicks basketball game in March 2025, and had to be taken out of Madison Square Garden in a wheelchair.

But the comedian later posted an update on social media, explaining that he had actually suffered from food poisoning and was recovering well.

The Even Stevens star revealed in February 2025 that she was shot in the face during a recreational shooting trip with her husband, Brendan Rooney, to celebrate his birthday.

Let me tell you about a scary experience I recently had. I was with a group when someone accidentally fired a gun in the wrong direction, and unfortunately, I was hit in the face. Thankfully, @thebrendanrooney was an absolute lifesaver! He instantly jumped in, quickly checked me over, and got me to the hospital right away. I ended up with five separate wounds, and one was incredibly close – less than an inch from my right eye! It was a really frightening situation, but I’m so grateful for his quick thinking and help. It could have been so much worse.

The Kim Possible actor explained, “Sadly, a small piece became stuck behind my eye, and doctors believe it’s too dangerous to try to remove it with surgery right now. They will keep checking on me – thankfully, my vision is still normal at the moment.”

As a huge fan, hearing the actress speak really touched me. She shared that she’s just so thankful to still be with us. She said, “I love my daughters, husband, family, and friends so much,” and it was incredibly moving. She described seeing her whole life pass before her, and honestly, it was a powerful reminder. She urged everyone to hug the people around you whenever you get the chance, because life can change in an instant. It really resonated with me, and I think it’s a beautiful message we all need to hear. It’s a message I’ll definitely be taking to heart.

Even though the internet can be harsh, Amy Schumer is grateful it helped her figure out what was going on with her health.

“After doing a lot of interviews, people started commenting on my “puffier” face, and I just thought, ‘Everyone needs to calm down,’” Amy remembered on the January 2025 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But then doctors started leaving comments, saying they were concerned and thought something was seriously wrong with my face. I couldn’t believe I was being criticized by doctors!”

These doctors suggested she might have Cushing syndrome, possibly caused by high cortisol levels or steroid injections. This made the Life & Beth creator realize, “Wait a minute-I *did* get steroid injections in my scars.”

“I had a breast reduction, a C-section, and other procedures, so I was getting these injections,” Amy explained. “They ended up giving me Cushing syndrome, and I never would have known if the internet hadn’t called me out.”

Now, Amy is just happy to be healthy. In a February 2024 News Not Noise newsletter, she shared, “Finding out I had a form of Cushing that would resolve on its own and that I was otherwise healthy was the best news I could have hoped for.”

During a game in December 2024, an AHL player suffered a cut from another player’s skate and needed 25 stitches to close the wound. After his son made a full recovery, his father, Tom Fitzgerald, the general manager of the New Jersey Devils, shared with ESPN, “We’re very lucky. I wouldn’t want that to happen to any parent.”

Hailey Bieber had the “scariest moment” of her life when she was having breakfast with husband Justin Bieber and started experiencing stroke-like symptoms in March 2022.

“Justin was like, ‘Are you OK?'” the Rhode skincare mogul shared a month later on YouTube, “and I just didn’t respond because I wasn’t sure. And then he asked me again and when I went to respond, I couldn’t speak. The right side of my face started drooping. I couldn’t get a sentence out.”

While Hailey said the facial drooping stopped and her speech came back, she went to the hospital to make sure she was OK.

“They did some scans and they were able to see that I had suffered a small blood clot to my brain,” the model added, “which they labeled and categorized as something called a TIA [Transient Ischemic Attack].”

Later, Hailey went to the University of California, Los Angeles, where she found out she had a hole in her heart called a patent foramen ovale (PFO).

She explained the blood clot had traveled into her heart, “escaped” through the hole and went to her brain, leading to the TIA.

Hailey said she had a successful PFO closure procedure and was now feeling great.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also went through one of his own.

In June 2022, the “Baby” singer revealed he was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which temporarily paralyzed parts of his face and led him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

“This virus affects the nerve in my ear and the nerves in my face, causing paralysis,” Justin explained in a video posted to Instagram. “As you can see, this eye doesn’t blink, I can’t smile on this side of my face, and this nostril won’t move. The entire side of my face is paralyzed.”

He also shared with his followers that it had become “increasingly difficult to eat.” Fortunately, the paralysis eventually subsided.

“He’s doing really well,” Hailey said on Good Morning America in June 2022, adding, “He’s feeling much better. It was a very frightening and unexpected situation, but he’s going to be completely fine, and I’m so grateful he’s okay.”

Initially, Jamie Foxx kept the specifics of his April 2023 health scare to himself, but he eventually shared what happened.

He recounted that one day in Atlanta, he had a terrible headache and asked a friend for an aspirin. However, “Before I could get the Aspirin, I went out. I don’t remember 20 days,” he explained in his 2024 Netflix special What Had Happened Was…

Jamie described first seeing a doctor who gave him a cortisone shot and sent him home. But his sister, Deidra Dixon, worried about him and took him to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had a brain bleed which led to a stroke.

Twenty days after surgery, the Django Unchainedactor woke up on May 4th in a wheelchair, unable to walk. He then traveled to Chicago to begin rehabilitation and therapy.

“All I can tell you is that I appreciate every prayer,” he said, “because I needed every prayer.”

Oh my gosh, you will not believe this! My absolute favorite reality star just told everyone she literally “died” while running a mile! A mile! It happened during the very first challenge of the NBC competition series she’s on, can you even imagine?! I’m seriously freaking out – it’s so dramatic and amazing!

“I don’t recall much,” she shared on Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser. “I remember the sound of a helicopter. It felt like I was drifting, and then I saw my grandpa. After that, everything went dark, but then I saw light again. That’s when I knew, I just knew I had died that day.”

“My organs were basically failing,” she went on to say. “I didn’t know I had rhabdomyolysis. And rhabdomyolysis is what your body does when it’s telling you, ‘I’m going to shut down.’”

As a huge fan, I was really moved reading Emilia Clarke’s story. She filmed those incredible battle scenes in Game of Thrones, but it turns out she was fighting a much bigger battle privately. In 2019, she bravely shared everything in an essay for The New Yorker, titled “A Battle for My Life.”

She described how it all started with a terrible headache at the gym. She wrote, “I reached the toilet, sank to my knees, and proceeded to be violently, voluminously ill.” But the pain-she said it was shooting, stabbing, and constricting-just kept getting worse. She actually *knew* something was seriously wrong – that her brain was damaged.

She was rushed to the hospital for a brain scan.

The diagnosis was terrifying: a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), a life-threatening stroke caused by bleeding around the brain. She explained she’d had an aneurysm, an arterial rupture.

Emilia had immediate surgery to fix the aneurysm, and she described the pain as “unbearable.” And while she was recovering, she experienced aphasia and was, as she put it, “muttering nonsense.”

Thankfully, a week later, “the aphasia passed,” and she was able to leave the hospital a month after being admitted.

But that wasn’t the end of it. A 2013 brain scan revealed a growth had “doubled in size,” and she needed *another* surgery.

“When they woke me, I was screaming in pain,” she wrote. The first procedure had failed, she’d had a massive bleed, and the doctors told her her chances of survival were slim unless they operated again. This time, they had to access her brain the old-fashioned way-through her skull.

It’s so inspiring to hear that, thankfully, Emilia is now “at a hundred per cent.”

Snoop Dogg‘s daughter, Cori Broadus, is thankful for the support of her family.

This comes after she experienced a “severe stroke” in January 2024, prompting her loved ones to quickly come to her side.

“I texted them that I’d had a stroke and sent a picture,” she explained to  TopMob News correspondent Will Marfuggi in December 2024. “Everyone immediately came to my rescue.”

Due to other health issues, Cori’s hospital stay ended up being longer than she anticipated.

“I could have been discharged after the stroke, but my lupus wasn’t doing well,” the Snoop’s Fatherhood: Cori and Wayne’s Story star shared. “My kidneys were also failing. There was a lot happening.”

Currently, Cori is recovering well.

“I’m doing great,” she said. “I just had to work on regaining some motor skills, but other than that, I’m fine.”

Shailene Woodley experienced significant health challenges during her early 20s.

“I got to the point where I was losing my hearing. I couldn’t walk for more than five minutes without needing to rest for hours and sleep. Everything I ate caused me stomach pain,” the actress explained on a September 2024 episode of the SHE MD Podcast. “It was a combination of problems, diagnoses, and different doctors telling me different things.”

Shailene-who has chosen to keep her specific condition private-began searching for answers.

“I come from a background that values a holistic approach and I study herbalism,” she added. “So I really wanted to work with both traditional doctors, [and] also independent healers. I was just trying to find some comfort and peace within myself.”

It was a lengthy process-lasting for 10 years.

“Over that decade, a lot of other issues arose from feeling so physically uncomfortable,” the Big Little Lies star noted, “like becoming afraid of food because everything hurt my stomach. That led to a lot of mental struggles, including body dysmorphia and confusion about my identity, and feeling safe in my own body-what that meant, and what it should be.”

After addressing both her physical and mental health, Shailene is now doing much better.

“It was a journey that ultimately resolved itself physically, and I am very healthy,” she shared. “I’m so happy to be able to say that.
