Xbox is Halo; Halo is Xbox.
Even with Microsoft releasing games on various platforms, many people will be surprised when the company officially announces that Master Chief is heading to the PS5.
A reveal might not be far off, as Halo Studios – recently renamed – has hinted at an announcement coming soon at the Halo World Championship Series (which, surprisingly, exists!) on October 24th. That’s approximately three weeks from today.
According to Rebs Gaming, a reliable source with inside information about Halo, and corroborated by Xbox Era sources, Halo Studios is partnering with Virtuous’ Abstraction team in the Netherlands to create a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, the original game in the series.

We’ve encountered similar rumors before; a remake of the original Xbox game has been hinted at for quite some time. It would be an excellent way to introduce the franchise to players on PS5 and future platforms.
There’s still talk that the project will likely combine its existing code with Unreal Engine 5, using what’s called a “hybrid engine” method. This is similar to how they updated The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, and it seems like a logical approach, we think.
Xbox Era notes that Halo Studios is heading up the project, with Virtuous primarily providing assistance. Whether that’s a positive or negative development really depends on how you look at it.
We don’t yet know which platforms this will be on, so it’s just a guess to link it to the PS5. However, consider the existing evidence: Microsoft now regularly announces almost all of its games for Sony’s console, and many are released on the same day.
We anticipate this rumour will gain momentum before October 24th, with all the details becoming clear by the month’s end.
