A Bunch of Scooby-Doo Movies Return to Streaming for Halloween (But Some of the Best Are Still Missing From Services)

It’s officially Scooby season! Well, technically it’s Spooky Season, but honestly, what would Halloween even *be* without those meddling kids and, of course, Scooby-Doo? As a lifelong fan, I can tell you that Scooby and the gang are a total must-have this time of year – for fans of all ages! And we got a *huge* treat earlier this October, because so many of the classic Scooby-Doo movies became available on streaming again. It’s the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit! Scooby-Doo forever!

Starting October 1st, fans of Scooby-Doo had more to watch on both HBO Max and Paramount+. Subscribers to both services gained access to a bunch of Scooby movies just in time for Halloween. While it’s no surprise to see these additions on HBO Max – the Warner Bros. streaming service is the usual place to find Scooby content – the number of animated Scooby adventures appearing on Paramount+ came as a surprise to many viewers.

Which Scooby-Doo Movies Are Streaming?

At the beginning of the month, the two live-action Scooby-Doo films – written by the creator of Superman, James Gunn – were added back to HBO Max. You can also stream the original Scooby-Doo movie on Prime Video, but Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed is only available on HBO Max.

It’s surprisingly difficult to find a lot of Scooby-Doo content on HBO Max, considering Warner Bros. owns the franchise. Currently, the service only has two animated Scooby-Doo movies: Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo!, a 2022 film often praised as one of the best in the series, and the computer-animated Scoob! from 2020.

Believe it or not, Paramount+ now boasts a larger collection of Scooby-Doo movies than HBO Max. This is due to a significant update on October 1st, which included several animated films. Added to the service were Scooby-Doo and the Alien Invaders (2000), Scooby-Doo! and the Legend of the Vampire (2003), Scooby-Doo! and the Loch Ness Monster (2004), Scooby-Doo! in Where’s My Mummy? (2005), and Chill Out, Scooby-Doo! (2007). Paramount+ also included the 2010 live-action movie Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster, though it’s not a particularly popular choice among fans.

Some of Scooby’s Best Movies Aren’t Streaming

Despite these recent additions, many Scooby-Doo movies aren’t available on popular streaming platforms. While most of these films are available to buy or rent digitally, or on DVD/Blu-ray – which is often the preferred way to watch – they aren’t currently included in any streaming service’s catalog.

Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island (1998) is often considered the best of the full-length Scooby-Doo movies, but you won’t be able to stream it this Halloween. That’s also true for Scooby-Doo! and the Witch’s Ghost (1999), Scooby-Doo! Camp Scare (2010), Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery (2015), and Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf (1988). Newer movies aren’t available either, including Happy Halloween, Scooby-Doo! (2020) and Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! (2022). It’s particularly odd that Scooby-Doo! and Krypto, Too! isn’t available, considering the new Superman movie just came out on HBO Max.
