Everything to Know About Lana Del Rey’s Husband Jeremy Dufrene

You can take the boy out of the bayou, but he may bring a piece of the bayou to Paris Fashion Week.

Lana Del Rey and her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, were spotted at the Valentino spring 2026 show on October 5th. Despite not coordinating outfits, the couple still looked perfectly matched!

Lana Del Rey, who is close friends with Valentino’s Alessandro Michele, explored the area in a delicate chiffon gown with a fitted top and fur-trimmed sleeves, carrying her belongings in a beautifully embroidered bag. Her guide, Louisiana native Dufrene, opted for a denim-on-denim look with a navy jacket and cargo pants accented with gold buttons, completing his outfit with sunglasses casually flipped upside down on his baseball cap.

The couple recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary on September 26th, and they marked the occasion with a double date including Lana Del Rey’s sister, Caroline Grant, who is a photographer.

Lana Del Rey, 40, and Dean Dufrene, 50, got married last year. They first appeared as a couple in public at the wedding of model Karen Elson and Lee Foster in New York, just weeks before their own wedding.

If you’re curious about how the Grammy-nominated musician met Dufrene – who still leads alligator tours when he’s not traveling with his wife – we can share the details of their relationship.

Who is Lana Del Rey’s husband Jeremy Dufrene?

Dufrene is from Des Allemands, Louisiana, a small town in St. Charles Parish with a population of around 2,200 people as of 2020. It’s famously known as the “Catfish Capital of the Universe.”

He’s become well-known (especially since meeting a particular singer) for working as a captain at Airboat Tours by Arthur. He takes tourists on exciting rides through the marshes and swamps, where they can see alligators up close before the animals hide away for the winter, according to the company’s website.

Before becoming a captain, Dufrene, who has two daughters and a son, worked at a chemical plant and enjoyed shrimping as a hobby, as stated in his company profile. Now, he finds great satisfaction in working with both wildlife and the people he meets.

Speaking of which…

How did Lana del Rey meet alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene?

Del Rey, who is originally from New York City, first encountered her future husband in March 2019. He was touring when they met at the BUKU Music + Art Project festival in New Orleans, where she was attending the event.

Tour guide Jeremy Dufrene shared photos from a recent excursion, excitedly posting on Instagram, ‘You never know who you’ll meet on my tours, but it’s always a pleasure, @lanadelrey!’ She also posted on Facebook, playfully requesting, ‘Let me be captain at Arthur’s Air Boat Tours!’

It turned out the celebrity sighting wasn’t just good for business.

It took a few years for them to get back in touch—during that time, Del Rey released three albums: *Chemtrails Over the County Club* and *Blue Banisters* in 2021, and *Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard* in 2023. In March 2024, she hinted at a new relationship when she shared a photo of a man’s arms around her.

That was followed by a May photo captioned, “Family w my guy @jeremy.dufrene.”

She now lives in Louisiana with Dufrene, but they often travel back to Los Angeles together.

I fell for my partner pretty quickly, but I knew things might be challenging given my own… complexities. He actually said something that really stuck with me – he works with alligators, so he’s used to dealing with tough situations! And he truly meant it. Honestly, I’d get upset about all sorts of things, but he’d just patiently listen and tell me to be myself, and that he’d love me even more for it. It was such a comforting and accepting thing to hear.

She’s famous for writing emotionally raw and honest songs, and she’s always valued the love she’s experienced, even through heartbreak.

In a 2012 interview with the BBC, Lana Del Rey shared that she hadn’t expected to experience the joy of being in love and having someone love her back. She described the feeling as living out a classic movie romance.

And, when it’s over, she noted, “You should honor love, even when it’s lost.”

But Dufrene wasn’t planning on letting her go.

When did Lana del Rey marry Jeremy Dufrene?

Del Rey wed the outdoorsman on Sept. 26, 2024, in a bayou ceremony in Des Allemands.

They obtained their marriage license the following month and filed it with the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court. Pastor Judah Smith, from Los Angeles, performed the ceremony.

Last month, actor Justin Dufrene shared a sweet message on Instagram to celebrate his first wedding anniversary with his wife. He posted a series of previously unseen photos from their wedding day, writing, ‘Happy 1st year Anniversary to my precious bride. Here’s to a lifetime of love and happiness!’

The photos featured the bride’s fairytale-like dress and their cake, which showed a charming cabin scene with trees covered in moss. Notable guests included Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley.

You know, I’ve always envisioned a big, loving family and a truly joyful life for myself. It took some work, honestly. I really had to tune out all the distractions and external pressures to create space for love to come in. And thankfully, I was able to do just that. It’s amazing what happens when you prioritize inner peace and open yourself up to connection.

However, that didn’t mean she was able to turn the volume down completely right away.

Lana Del Rey explained that she worried about how marrying into fame would affect her husband. She admitted, ‘I would have been so nervous if I were him—I tend to feel things very strongly!’ However, her husband, Jeremy, reassured her, saying, ‘If you’re going to worry, worry about yourself – I’m not concerned at all.’

Although he’s established a fresh and comfortable style for the singer of *Born to Die*, she’s still avoiding taking major risks in at least one aspect of her work.

She told me, “Jeremy actually swims with alligators!” She also mentioned she swims in the bayou sometimes, where alligators live, but she always makes sure to swim with someone else.”

Has Lana Del Rey written any songs about husband Jeremy Dufrene?

The singer has revealed that her new song, “Stars Fell on Alabama” – originally performed as “Husband of Mine” – is about her husband. The song will be featured on her upcoming album, *Stove*.

The lyrics, like ‘Down by the bayou by you / Where the baby alligators play /No one talks to me like you do / Or takes care of us so good this way,’ were so simple that a music expert wasn’t necessary to understand them.

She told W that Jeremy means the world to her. He’s reserved around others, but completely opens up when they’re alone. She added that everyone has their own unique quirks, and it’s special when you meet someone who understands and shares them.

Proving he’s game for anything, Dufrene even joined her at the lively and often chaotic Paris Fashion Week. Check out more celebrities who attended the event in Paris:
