DC Studios’ head names the one obscure comic book character who he wants for a DCU project.
In response to the query about which lesser-known DC Comics character he’d like to delve into within the DC Universe, Gunn expressed his fondness by saying, “Bat-Mite is a character I have a soft spot for. He’s kind of like my buddy, but he’s downright spooky.” Gunn further emphasized, “I feel compelled to work on Bat-Mite at some point in the future.
Gunn expressed that he’s unsure about how to proceed with it, but if Matt Reeves (the writer-director of The Batman) has included something in his script for the upcoming sequel of The Batman, then Gunn will be extremely excited. He received Reeves’ script yesterday and hasn’t had a chance to read it yet, so there might be a character like Bat-Mite in it, and if that’s the case, Gunn can’t wait.
In the initial tale from 1959’s Detective Comics #267, “Batman… Encountering Bat-Mite” by Bill Finger and Sheldon Moldoff, we are introduced to a tiny character named Bat-Mite. He is a playful, fifth-dimensional imp, much like Superman’s recurring foe, Mister Mxyzptlk. Unlike Mister Mxyzptlk who is typically viewed as a harmful and malicious presence, with a profound affection for the Dark Knight, Bat-Mite’s admiration for Batman is immense. Just like many other fifth-dimensional imps who idolize their favorite heroes or villains, Bat-Mite has shaped his entire appearance and demeanor around Bruce Wayne’s brooding alter-ego, Batman.
What Can Fans Expect from Matt Reeves’ Take on Gotham City?

Fans are thrilled about the upcoming sequel to Reeves’ popular 2022 movie, “The Batman,” but there are other intriguing DCU projects set in Gotham City that they’re also excited for. Besides “The Batman 2” and a possible second season of “The Penguin” starring Colin Farrell, fans are captivated by the prospect of the upcoming “Clayface” film within the DCU. In June, it was confirmed that the leading role in this shapeshifting villain’s movie will be played by an actor.
