This winter, Romesh Ranganathan will make his West End debut alongside Sheridan Smith in her new play, Woman In Mind.
The 47-year-old actor will play the role of Bill in Alan Ayckbourn’s funny and thought-provoking play, beginning in December at the Duke of York’s Theatre.
I’ve seen this comedian all over British TV – he’s been on shows like The Weakest Link, A League of Their Own, and even Rob & Romesh Vs! He’s a really popular stand-up, does podcasts, and is on the radio too. Honestly, with how busy Sheridan Smith is, he seems like the perfect person to keep her company and understand her hectic life.
He expressed his excitement about returning to the stage after many years, saying he was thrilled to be performing with Sheridan Smith and the rest of the cast.
Honestly, I’m a bundle of nerves and excitement! Getting to work on Alan Ayckbourn’s *Woman in Mind* is a dream come true – it’s a brilliant play, and I can’t wait to help bring it to the stage. Plus, I’m playing a doctor this time around, which hopefully means my mum will *finally* be a little bit proud of my career choices. It’s a good mix of everything, really!
This play is returning to London’s West End after a nearly 40-year absence. It tells the story of a frustrated vicar’s wife who dreams of a life where everything – her family and her ambitions – falls perfectly into place.
I was completely drawn into the story, which unfolds entirely within Susan’s garden. It starts feeling really unsettling as the line between what’s actually happening to her and what she’s imagining gets blurred, and you can really see her spiraling downwards. It’s a heartbreaking watch as she seems to be destroying herself.
The play ‘Woman in Mind’ will premiere at the Duke of York’s Theatre in December 2025 and run through February 2026. Following this, it will tour to the Sunderland Empire and Theatre Royal Glasgow for a limited time. Tickets are available for purchase starting today.
