Battlefield Studios and EA have shared the PC system requirements for the upcoming *Battlefield 6*, including what you’ll need to play with the highest possible settings. They recently announced the minimum and recommended specs, and now they’ve detailed the hardware needed for Ultra and Ultra++ settings in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
To achieve the ‘Ultra’ setting in *Battlefield 6* – meaning 4K resolution at 60 frames per second with all settings maxed out, or 1440p at 144 FPS with medium settings – you won’t need to use image upscaling technologies like DLSS or FSR. The game will run at its native resolution if you have either an Intel Core i9-12900k or AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card, and 16GB of RAM.
Ultra++ mode requires a powerful setup to run games at the highest visual settings. Specifically, it means playing at 4K resolution with either 144 frames per second (FPS) on the High preset, or an even smoother 240 FPS on the Ultra preset. Achieving 240 FPS utilizes both DLSS Super Resolution and Multiframe Generation technologies. To run Ultra++ smoothly, you’ll need at least an Intel Core 9 Ultra 285k or AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5080 graphics card, and 16 GB of RAM. Both Ultra and Ultra++ settings also benefit from a fast SSD with 90 GB of free space, and the Windows 11 operating system is recommended.
Last month, Battlefield Studios’ technical director, Christian Buhl, emphasized the importance of making sure *Battlefield 6* runs smoothly on PCs that just meet the minimum system requirements. He explained that the team worked diligently to optimize performance, even adjusting the design of the multiplayer maps to ensure they didn’t strain lower-end computers.
According to Buhl, creating the game’s maps required collaboration with artists and technical artists to optimize performance. They’ve worked hard to ensure the game runs smoothly, regardless of whether players have a lower-end or high-end computer, delivering the intended gameplay experience for everyone.
During the open beta tests in August, Battlefield Studios discovered that a significant number of PC players were using computers that barely met the game’s minimum requirements – some even had only 6 GB of RAM. Despite these low specs, it was ‘very important’ to both Battlefield Studios and EA that players still had a good experience with the game.
He explained that the minimum system requirements are crucial, both for sales and overall business success, because they want the game to be accessible to as many players as possible.
We thoroughly tested the game on various computer setups, including those below and above our stated minimum and recommended requirements. This helped us determine what performance levels we needed to achieve to reach the broadest possible PC audience, which has been essential to our success.
Battlefield 6 is coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on October 10.
Prep your build. Sharpen your skills. See you Friday on the battlefield 🫡
