Adolescence stars’ “explosive” drama series gets first look at season 2 as release date confirmed

With his hit show *House of Guinness* recently released and *Peaky Blinders* confirmed for two more seasons, acclaimed TV writer Steven Knight has another series making a comeback. Disney has just shared a sneak peek with some first-look photos.

We’re referring to *A Thousand Blows*, the boxing drama that came out earlier this year. It features Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty, who previously worked together on *Adolescence*, as well as Malachi Kirby, known for his role in *Black Mirror*.

As a total movie and TV buff, I’m so excited! We just got some brand new glimpses of all the characters in the second season, and even better, Disney+ has officially announced it’ll be hitting our screens on January 9th, 2026. Six episodes – mark your calendars!

Season 2 is based on the real experiences of people struggling to survive in London’s tough East End during the 1880s.

It’s been a year, and seeing Hezekiah… well, it’s heartbreaking. The man I knew is practically gone. And Sugar? He’s really fallen hard. Cut off from his family, he’s just spiraling with the bottle, and it’s tough to watch.

With Wapping on the verge of collapse, Mary Carr (Doherty) returns with her trusted ally, Alice Diamond (Darci Shaw), to reunite her crew and take back control.

Mary, true to form, has a plan—and it includes everyone she loves. But this time, the stakes are higher than they’ve ever been.

Season 2 will bring back familiar faces like James Nelson-Joyce, Hannah Walters, Nadia Albina, Morgan Hilaire, Jemma Carlton, Caoilfhionn Dunne, Jason Tobin, Susan Lynch, Daniel Mays, Gary Lewis, Aliyah Odoffin, and Robert Glenister. Joining the cast this season are Ned Dennehy, known for Peaky Blinders, and Catherine McCormack from Slow Horses.

We previously described the first season of this drama as thrilling, and we especially loved how the last few episodes hinted at an even better second season. We’re really looking forward to seeing what happens next!

A Thousand Blows’ first season premiered before Graham and Doherty began working on their next project, Adolescence. Both creators have received numerous accolades for their work, including Emmy Awards.
