The animated series *Invincible* is gearing up for its fourth season on Prime Video, and has given fans a first look at the next big villain, Thragg. Following the events of Season 3, Mark Grayson defeated the powerful Viltrumite, Conquest, who was sent to evaluate Earth. While a major victory, this is just the beginning, as the rest of the Viltrumite Empire is now preparing to act.
I’m really excited about Season 4 of *Invincible*! It looks like Mark and the team are going to have a lot of new enemies to deal with, but one villain, Thragg, is going to be a major, ongoing threat – even beyond this season. They just gave fans a first look at how Thragg will appear in the animated series at New York Comic Con 2025, and he seems like a seriously powerful opponent for Mark.
Invincible Season 4 to Debut Thragg in 2026
At New York Comic Con 2025, it was announced that Season 4 of *Invincible* is coming in March 2026, though the exact release date is still unknown. Lee Pace, known for his role as Ronan in *Guardians of the Galaxy*, will voice Thragg, a powerful new villain who will challenge Mark. Thragg is the leader of the Viltrumite Empire – he’s their strongest warrior and the one responsible for all their attacks and conquests.
Thragg will be a major character throughout the entire series. While *Invincible* has been renewed for a fifth season on Prime Video, it’s still uncertain if the show will be able to adapt all of the original comic book stories. According to *Invincible* co-creator Robert Kirkman, the show would likely need seven to nine seasons to cover the complete comic book arc. He expressed optimism about reaching that goal, noting the strong support from Amazon Prime and excitement about the show’s progress. “Roughly seven to eight to nine seasons I think would be necessary to do the complete arc from the comics of *Invincible*,” Kirkman stated. “So we’ll see. Hopefully we get there. We get a ton of support from Amazon Prime and couldn’t be more thrilled with how things are going. So, very excited and hopeful for it.”
What to Know for Invincible Season 4
I’m excited to share that Matthew Rhys will be joining the cast of *Invincible* Season 4! He’s going to voice the character Dinosaurus, and it sounds like he’ll be around for quite a while. Along with the already announced Lee Pace as Thragg, this is shaping up to be a great season. Robert Kirkman also hinted over the summer that the animation quality will continue to improve as the team gets more comfortable working with the international studios, and the studios get a better understanding of the show’s vision.
If you watch closely, you’ll notice each season of the show builds on what came before. The animation is really cool, too. I think the big battle at the end of Season 3 gave viewers a glimpse of what the show is capable of, and we’re aiming to reach that level of quality consistently as the series continues. We’ll see what happens!
