Avengers: Doomsday’s Simu Liu Teases The Actors He ‘May Or May Not Have’ Scenes With, And Weighs In On Why The Film Will Be Worth The Wait

I’m most excited for Marvel’s next movie, *Avengers: Doomsday*. It’s going to unite a fantastic group of heroes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the X-Men, and it’s the first *Avengers* film since *Endgame* in 2019. Recent comments from Simu Liu about potential co-stars and how worth it the movie will be have made me even more eager to see this team-up!

At New York Comic Con, Simu Liu shared his reaction to being asked to join the cast of *Avengers: Doomsday*. He initially joked that it was long overdue, then explained how meaningful it was to him to be able to continue his role as Shang-Chi within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It was an amazing call to receive, and I was immediately thrilled. I went through several waves of excitement, especially when I found out who else would be involved – people I’d either met before or had long admired. They were all truly iconic figures.

As a huge film fan, I’m genuinely blown away by the cast they’ve assembled! A big part of that excitement comes from seeing some familiar faces returning – we’re getting Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Alan Cumming, James Marsden, and Rebecca Romijn all stepping back into their roles from the *X-Men* movies. Even Simu Liu, who played Shang-Chi, was super hyped about it, and he shared how thrilled he was when he found out.

It’s well known now that I’ve worked with actors like Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Patrick Stewart, both of whom I admired growing up. Getting to share scenes with them was an incredible experience, and honestly, it might have been the best part of being in the movie – that’s how much it meant to me.

He didn’t offer a clear answer, and actually added a lot of uncertainty to avoid one. It’s similar to how Andrew Garfield pretended he wasn’t in *Spider-Man: No Way Home*. This makes me wonder if Simu Liu might appear alongside the X-Men in *Doomsday*.

We haven’t confirmed this yet, and we’ll need to wait until the movie comes out on December 18, 2026, to know for sure. But early signs suggest it will be worth the wait.

I was listening to this actor talk about working with legends like McKellen and Stewart, and then he described the *Doomsday* cast in the most amazing way. He said it felt like being a kid again, tuning into Saturday morning cartoons and just running around on a playground! Apparently, he’d grown up watching these actors, and there they were, all in spandex, letting him play make-believe with them. It sounded like a dream come true for any movie fan!

That fact alone makes me eager to see the Russo Brothers’ new movie, and Liu emphasized that the film will be worth both the wait and the ticket price. He concluded by saying:

I genuinely believe it’s going to be worth the price of a ticket. As I read through the script – even the rough drafts – I kept thinking how great certain parts would be to see on screen. I’d find myself thinking, ‘I’d happily pay twenty dollars just to watch that scene!’ Or, ‘That fight, or even that romantic moment, would be worth the money!’ (I’m joking about the last part, of course.)

Knowing how enthusiastic Liu has been about *Doomsday* and how thrilled he is to be in the movie, I was already impressed. It’s hard to believe such a talented group of actors will actually be sharing the screen together, just like him.

Honestly, just listening to him hint at who he might be acting with and confirm that *Doomsday* is absolutely going to be amazing made me even *more* excited. I was hyped before, but now I can barely contain myself!
