Okay, so I’ve been playing the new Battlefield, and wow, it’s really hitting the mark! Everyone seems to love it – it’s got an 83% thumbs up on Steam, a 4.26 out of 5 on PlayStation, and even a 4.5 on Xbox! It’s scoring an 83 on Metacritic too, which is awesome. Honestly, it’s way better received than the last couple of Battlefield games. Battlefield 5 was okay, but this feels like a real step up, and definitely a huge improvement over 2042. I’m starting to think this might be the best Battlefield game since, like, Battlefield 4!
While not flawless, *Battlefield 6* does have some problems. Many players find the maps to be poorly designed, and some of the choices made by the developers, DICE and EA, are confusing and upsetting. For instance, unlike *Battlefield 5*, where you could customize your character’s gender regardless of class, *Battlefield 6* assigns a fixed gender to each class. This decision has become the second most frequent complaint online, second only to the issues with the maps, which are sparking heated debate among fans on the *Battlefield* subreddit.
“Let Us Choose”
A popular post on the *Battlefield* subreddit asks players to decide the gender of a character class using a dice roll.
Many players have noted that removing character customization options is frustrating and also affects the game experience. Since the Support and Engineer classes are exclusively female, players often hear only female voices calling for help, which can be distracting and detract from the sense of realism, especially in a first-person shooter that aims for authenticity.
Funny how BFV had being able to choose your character(race/gender) for your class while bf6 does not.

A popular comment suggests that DICE is deleting complaints about this problem from Reddit and Steam forums, though this hasn’t been verified. It’s also unknown whether DICE knows about the issue, but given how many people are talking about it, it seems unlikely they haven’t seen the feedback.
This isn’t a simple problem to solve. It’s not something that can be quickly fixed with a few adjustments, so don’t anticipate any changes happening soon. DICE has addressed some player requests, but not this particular issue, which doesn’t bode well for those hoping for a fix.
Okay, so aside from the problems people are having and the gripes about the maps, most players seem to really like the game, and honestly, that matches what I thought when I played it. It’s a solid first-person shooter!
