Batman is a beloved hero because he’s an ordinary man who fights crime using his intelligence, money, fighting skills, and technology – even when facing incredibly powerful foes in the DC Universe. Sometimes, even with all his preparation, he needs extra help, so he uses powerful armored suits to even the odds. These suits boost his strength and protection, giving him new abilities, and make him a formidable opponent – even to beings with god-like powers.
While Iron Man is well-known for his suits, Batman also uses powerful armor to fight his toughest enemies. Here’s a look at some of the most impressive suits the Dark Knight has created.
5) Trinity Armor
A new take on the first meeting of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, *Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman: Trinity* sees the heroes teaming up to defend Themyscira from an attack led by Ra’s al Ghul. Ra’s brought along a twisted clone of Superman, called Bizarro, to aid in the invasion. Batman wore special armor strong enough to withstand direct hits from Bizarro, who is nearly as powerful as Superman himself. The armor was also equipped with weapons designed to harm Bizarro, including electrified nets, small grenades, and powerful lasers. While Bizarro eventually broke through the armor, it allowed Batman to fight him effectively for a significant time.
4) Insider Suit
Following the epic events of *Final Crisis*, Batman used a special suit, the Insider Suit, to secretly observe Gotham City before revealing he was back. Though it appears ordinary, the suit is incredibly powerful, borrowing abilities from various Justice League members. It allows Batman to fly, become invisible, shoot energy blasts and heat vision, and even briefly tap into superhuman speed. The suit also has a lie detector that can deliver an electric shock, and is strong enough to withstand a missile explosion. Essentially, the Insider Suit transforms Batman into a one-person Justice League.
3) Justice Buster
I’ve always been amazed by how prepared Batman is. He’s famous for having plans for *everything*, even if his fellow Justice League members went rogue. That’s where the Justice Buster – also known as Fenrir – comes in. It’s this massive suit packed with the tools to handle any League member turning bad. I remember when the Joker managed to brainwash everyone, Batman brought it out. It was incredible – and terrifying. The suit could trap Wonder Woman in a dream, instantly drain Aquaman’s water, make the Flash unable to get traction, basically hack Cyborg, and even take away Green Lantern’s power. And against Superman? It had these tiny red suns built into the fists! But even all that wasn’t enough. Superman, under the Joker’s control, wrecked the suit and nearly killed Batman. Honestly, the way Batman survived was just…classic. He literally spat Kryptonite chewing gum in Superman’s face! It sounds ridiculous, but it worked!
2) Hellbat Armor
When the villain Darkseid stole the body of Batman’s son, Damian, and took it to his home planet, Apokolips, Batman and the Justice League created a powerful suit of armor to fight him. Called the Hellbat Armor, this suit dramatically increased Batman’s strength, allowing him to single-handedly defeat Darkseid’s entire army and even knock down the incredibly powerful Darkseid himself. The armor boasts incredible features like flight, invisibility, shapeshifting, and a massive bat-shaped laser. However, it’s incredibly dangerous – it drains Batman’s energy at a rapid rate and could kill him if used for too long. Despite the risk, Batman used the armor to defeat Darkseid, retrieve Damian’s body, and ultimately revive him using a magical artifact called the Chaos Shard.
1) Final Bat-Suit
The Justice League’s trip to the Sixth Dimension revealed a perfect society created by their future selves, but this utopia was built on the imprisonment of countless beings and controlled by a being called the World Forger. While there, Batman found a device called the Sun Box, created by his future self, which could alter reality. Along with the Sun Box came a massive, powerful suit of armor – the Final Bat-Suit. This suit could rewrite people’s minds, easily defeat the entire Justice League, and create any weapon imaginable. When Superman was trapped in a sunless galaxy and lost his powers, Batman used the suit’s telekinetic abilities to move stars, restoring Superman’s abilities. With his powers back, Superman rejoined the League and they were finally able to defeat the World Forger.
