When *Dragon Ball Daima* was first announced, it really got everyone talking. But a lot of shonen fans like me are still curious about what’s next for Goku and the Z Fighters. We haven’t seen any news about a continuation of *Dragon Ball Super*, and there’s no word on when that might happen. Recently, though, something unexpected happened with the *Dragon Ball* franchise, and it’s making me wonder if a big shift is coming – maybe even a major return for the Saiyans.
The official Dragon Ball social media account recently changed its name from ‘DB_Super2015’ to the simpler ‘DB_Anime_Info.’ This new name likely aims to cover all Dragon Ball series and media. While Shueisha hasn’t explained the change, fans speculate it hints at something new happening with the franchise. Following the sad loss of creator Akira Toriyama, new manga chapters and anime episodes have been released, but there’s been no official word about Dragon Ball Super. Fans are hoping the anime will return soon, as the Moro and Granolah the Survivor arcs haven’t been adapted for television yet.
Dragon Ball’s Sad Absence
After *Dragon Ball Super* finished airing in 2017, two movies, *Dragon Ball Super: Broly* and *Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero*, were released. Then came *Dragon Ball Daima*, which told a previously untold story about the Z-Fighters and their adventures in the Demon Realm. Now that *Daima* has concluded, fans hoped to hear news about the future of the franchise at Jump Festa, the biggest annual event for *Weekly Shonen Jump* series. However, recent signs suggest that new announcements may not be happening, leaving fans disappointed.
At the Jump Festa event earlier this year, there wasn’t a dedicated presentation for *Dragon Ball*, which made fans worry about what’s next for the series. While those involved with *Dragon Ball* have suggested the story could continue, no official announcements have been made. However, there’s still hope! The upcoming *Dragon Ball Battle Hour* event will share news about the future of the franchise. The catch is, this event isn’t until April of next year, several months after the December Jump Festa in Japan.
I’ve been thinking about where the *Dragon Ball* story might go next, and it really seems like Frieza is the key. That new transformation he got during the Granolah Arc left him incredibly powerful – he’s currently the strongest character in the universe, having defeated both Goku and Vegeta with single blows! Everyone’s eager to see if anyone will eventually rise to the challenge and be able to defeat him in his current, super-powered state.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on what’s next for *Dragon Ball*! Share your predictions in the comments and join the discussion in the ComicBook Forum.
