Jason Alexander isn’t buying Kevin Federline’s story.
Britney Spears’ ex-husband, Kevin Federline, is responding to claims made in his upcoming book, titled *You Thought You Knew*, explaining that he feels he needs to speak up.
Jason recently posted on Instagram, set to the song ‘Losers’ by Jelly Roll and Post Malone, calling out those who are now criticizing Britney’s past difficulties. He wrote that it’s unfair to act as if they were simply observers when they were actively involved. Specifically, he addressed her ex-husband, reminding him that he was meant to protect her, not contribute to her struggles.
Along with the meme of Kevin, Jason wrote a message accusing someone of not helping during a difficult situation. He claimed they were actually enjoying the drama instead of trying to resolve it.
Jason, now 44, was briefly married to the singer in 2004—the marriage was annulled after just 48 hours. He also alluded to the relationship between Britney and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons: 20-year-old Sean Preston and 19-year-old Jayden James.
Jason continued, urging anyone writing a book to be honest about their own experiences – the fun times and the moments they weren’t their best. He challenged the idea of someone pretending to be responsible and mature after having actively participated in questionable behavior, asking, “You played the game, and now you want to act like you were the one holding everything together?”
Jason concluded his message by asking Kevin to acknowledge his role in their marriage, which ended in divorce in 2007.
Jason expressed frustration with people attempting to capitalize on Britney Spears’ story, particularly men who contributed to her struggles but now seem to ignore their role. He stated that if someone wants to share their perspective, they should do so honestly and take responsibility for their actions, rather than portraying themselves as a victim or hero. He emphasized that those who genuinely cared for Britney, not just her celebrity, remember the truth and won’t accept a distorted version of events.
TopMob News has reached out to Kevin’s reps, who declined to comment.
Kevin’s new book, releasing on October 21st, contains several accusations about his ex-wife, including a disturbing claim that Britney was holding a knife in their sons’ bedroom while they were asleep. He also shares his thoughts on how she is doing now.
In his memoir, Kevin writes that things with Britney are quickly heading towards a point of no return, and he can no longer pretend that everything is alright.
Britney recently spoke out about her ex-husband’s book, which she says contains damaging and untrue claims about her relationship with their sons.
The singer shared on X (formerly Twitter) on October 15th that she’s been hurt by this situation, and has repeatedly tried to include them in her life. However, she added that they’ve seen how her own father has treated her with disrespect, and now need to focus on their own well-being and take accountability for their actions.
Honestly, reading Kevin’s book felt like a series of little distortions of the truth, and it really stung. It’s frustrating because, at the end of the day, I’m the one left dealing with the emotional fallout. It feels like my feelings are the only ones truly considered here, and that’s incredibly painful.
If you want to learn more about Britney Spears’ story, here are the most shocking revelations from her 2023 memoir, *The Woman in Me*.
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake first met as kids on Disney Channel’s *The Mickey Mouse Club* in the early 1990s. They were part of a group of young performers that also included Christina Aguilera, as well as slightly older stars like Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and Tony Lucca.
Britney recalls sharing her first kiss with Justin during a game of Truth or Dare. It happened at a sleepover with the cast, and ironically, a Janet Jackson song was playing in the background. While they didn’t start dating for a few years, this moment occurred when Britney joined *NSYNC on tour.
Britney reveals that she had an abortion because Justin felt they were too young to have a child. She describes the experience as incredibly painful, recalling how he played guitar while she went through the procedure at home. She calls it one of the most difficult moments of her life.
She’s still questioning her decision, explaining that she wouldn’t have made it on her own. However, Justin was adamant about not wanting to become a father.
TopMob News reached out to Justin’s rep and did not immediately hear back.
With headlines focusing on stories about Justin Timberlake in Britney Spears’ new book, sources say the 42-year-old is back in the studio working on new music. He and his wife, Jessica Biel, are also doing well and enjoying time with their sons, 8-year-old Silas and 2-year-old Phineas.
Britney says Justin broke up with her in a cold, impersonal way, like many celebrities do – just a quick dismissal, as if leaving a sticky note.
She was so “devastated,” she recalls, she “could barely speak for months.”
After returning to her hometown of Kentwood, Louisiana, to heal from the breakup, Britney says Justin flew to see her. He personally delivered a framed letter, which ended with the dramatic plea, “I can’t breathe without you.”
Britney reflects on the accusations made in Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River” music video, where he implied she was unfaithful. She describes feeling numb and lost in Louisiana while he seemed to be thriving in Hollywood.
She refers to a particularly awkward interview with Diane Sawyer from November 2003. Her father and manager had set it up, and during the interview, Sawyer intensely questioned her about the hurt she allegedly inflicted on Justin, which she now sees as a turning point in her life.
“I felt like I had been exploited,” she writes, “set up in front of the whole world.”
Britney has confirmed long-standing rumors that she kissed dancer and choreographer Wade Robson at a bar while she was in a relationship with Justin Timberlake. She believes the rumors about Justin’s infidelity led her to be receptive to the situation.
Otherwise, she writes, she was faithful to Justin.
Britney claims that during the time she was often seen partying with Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and others, she wasn’t struggling with alcohol. Instead, she says she misused her ADHD medication, Adderall, to briefly feel better about depression.
Twenty years ago, it was widely known that Britney Spears and Colin Farrell had a romantic connection. She recalls their brief relationship as being very passionate and physically intimate.
Oh my god, it was just… a brawl! That’s the only way to describe it. We were all tangled up, completely lost in each other, like a full-on, passionate street fight. It was insane, and I can’t stop thinking about how intense it was!
She later admitted she still had feelings for Justin when she went to the premiere of *The Recruit* with Colin on January 28, 2003. While speaking to reporters, Colin described their relationship as simply a friendship, calling her a “very sweet girl” but denying they were dating.
In her memoir, *The Woman in Me*, Britney Spears shares that she briefly hoped for a real connection with someone, but her repeated disappointments in love contributed to a growing sense of isolation and awkwardness.
TopMob News has reached out to Colin’s rep for comment but did not hear back.
Britney admits she was bored and heavily intoxicated when she impulsively married her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, in Las Vegas in January 2004. The marriage was quickly annulled just 55 hours afterward.
She was surprised by her family’s over-the-top reaction – it felt like a huge deal, as if she’d caused a major conflict – but she saw it as harmless fun.
Jason was arrested for trespassing on the day Britney Spears married Sam Asghari at her home on June 9, 2022, and he accepted the charges without formally admitting guilt.
Britney’s decision to shave her head in a Los Angeles salon in February 2007 was a reaction to years of being overly scrutinized and treated like an object, something that had been happening since she became famous as a young star. She’s mentioned that she started taking Prozac around the time her album *Oops…I Did It Again* became hugely popular to help her cope with the intense public attention.
From her teenage years onward, she faced constant scrutiny and unwanted comments about her appearance. She explains that shaving her head and acting rebelliously were her attempts to regain control and challenge those judgments.
She was deeply heartbroken while fighting with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, for custody of their sons, Sean and Jayden, who are now 18 and 17.
Looking back on those difficult weeks after her children, she admits she repeatedly fell apart and didn’t know how to cope. She famously hit a photographer’s car with her umbrella – a moment made more public by her new hairstyle – and remembers feeling increasingly overwhelmed and like a child while battling severe postpartum depression and a divorce.
Kevin was later granted sole physical custody of their kids on Oct. 1, 2007.
Britney Spears was placed under a conservatorship on February 1, 2008. It began after a period of personal difficulties, including two involuntary psychiatric holds in January 2008, and was later extended without a set end date.
Britney Spears has said she pleaded with the court to have someone – anyone – other than her father, Jamie Spears, manage her affairs. Andrew Wallet helped manage her conservatorship alongside Jamie until March 2019.
She decided to stop trying to get out of her legal obligations quickly because she wanted to see her children again as soon as she could.
She says she happily traded personal freedom for the chance to spend quiet time with her children. For her, nothing is more precious, and she would do anything for them.
As a longtime fan, it just breaks my heart to hear Britney describe how controlled she was. She says it was unbelievably messed up – she wasn’t allowed to choose who she dated, but they expected her to keep working, appearing on TV shows and even touring the world! It feels so wrong that she was considered ‘sick’ enough to need controlling, yet ‘healthy’ enough to perform for huge crowds every week. It’s just… unbelievable.
Britney eventually realized she believed her father saw her only as a source of income, as if her entire purpose was to make money for the family.
She claims she wasn’t permitted to alter the songs she performed, even when she requested to do so, during her very popular Las Vegas show at Planet Hollywood.
She explains that music was everything to her, but the conservatorship was devastating, completely breaking her spirit.
Jamie previously served as Britney’s co-conservator, but took a break in 2019 due to health problems and fully resigned in September 2021. He has repeatedly said he always believed his choices were what was best for her.
Britney describes how every aspect of her life, from her prescribed medications to the settings on her phone, was closely examined and regulated. She emphasizes the all-encompassing nature of this control, stating simply, ‘Everything.’
She claims her father’s criticism of her weight was particularly painful. “It stung even more coming from my own father than from the press,” she writes, explaining that he frequently told her she looked overweight and needed to change.
For most of the 13 years Britney was under conservatorship, she didn’t speak about what her life was like. However, she claims she did attempt to share her story once.
She recalls bringing up the conservatorship during a 2016 talk show appearance, but that portion of the interview was never broadcast. She finds this particularly strange.
Britney describes being forced into rehab in early 2019, explaining her father threatened court if she refused, which would have been embarrassing. She says she was given lithium and held there for months against her wishes.
She explained that she was severely limited in what she could do. She couldn’t leave the house, drive, or even have a private bath. She had to get blood drawn every week and didn’t have any privacy, not even in her own room.
According to her own writing, Britney texted her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, from the facility, asking for help. Jamie Lynn reportedly responded by telling her to accept the situation, saying, “Stop fighting it. There’s nothing you can do about it, so stop fighting it.”
Britney felt hurt and let down, especially because she couldn’t understand why her sister, Jamie Lynn, and their father were so close. She wished Jamie Lynn had supported her, as she had been asking for help and expected her sister to be on her side.
In early 2022 the siblings publicly sparred over Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I Should Have Said.
In my memoir, I share how my sister, Jamie Lynn, publicly aired some really damaging and frankly untrue stories about me. It was incredibly painful. But despite everything, I do love her. Honestly, I’m actively trying to move past the hurt and anger – not just with her, but with anyone who’s ever wronged me. It’s a process, and it’s definitely not easy, but I’m committed to finding more compassion.
TopMob News contacted Jamie Lynn for a statement. In a 2022 interview on TopMob’s *Daily Pop*, she explained that while she and Britney sometimes disagree, they will always have love and support for each other.
Britney recalls first learning about the #FreeBritney movement while in rehab in 2019. A nurse showed her videos on YouTube that revealed fans were actively campaigning for her freedom.
Honestly, it broke my heart watching everything with Britney. As the years dragged on and everyone started *really* talking about whether she should still be under that conservatorship, I was glued to every article, every tweet… she was too, you know? She *knew* what was being said about her, and I just wanted to reach through the screen and tell her we were all fighting for her.
Honestly, watching those documentaries about my life was really tough. I get that everyone involved meant well, but it stung so badly to find out some people I considered friends were talking to the filmmakers *without even talking to me first*! It was like they were just making up stories about what I was thinking or feeling all those years, and it felt so…wrong. It’s *my* life, you know? And it was just a lot of guessing, and none of it felt quite right.
Britney remembers feeling a huge sense of relief when Jamie was removed as her co-conservator in September 2021. She explains that the man who had frightened her throughout her life and controlled her as an adult – and who had severely damaged her self-esteem – was finally no longer in charge.
On November 12, 2021, while at a resort in Tahiti, she received a call from her lawyer with the news that the court had completely ended the legal arrangement that controlled her life.
Britney enjoys the freedom to share what she wants on social media, and sometimes that includes tastefully revealing photos.
She understands some people don’t get why she likes taking self-portraits, whether nude or in different outfits. However, she believes if they’d experienced being photographed repeatedly by others, always trying to meet someone else’s expectations, they’d realize how empowering it is for her to pose as she pleases and have complete control over the images.
Britney says the conservatorship caused her both physical and emotional harm, and she continues to experience migraines as a result.
“I don’t think my family understands the real damage that they did,” she writes.
She truly values her freedom, whether it’s simply disconnecting from social media without causing a fuss, or having the space to learn from her own errors.
She explains that freedom means no longer feeling pressured to put on a show for others, whether in public or in private. It’s about accepting her own imperfections, just like everyone else, and having the power to pursue happiness however she chooses.
