After fans were disappointed to learn *Dragon Ball* wouldn’t be at this year’s Jump Festa, the popular anime series has shared some exciting news. Next year, the show created by Akira Toriyama will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a special event. The event will focus on the future of the franchise, leading fans to wonder if *Dragon Ball Super* will return or if we’ll see new projects similar to *Dragon Ball Daima*. Here’s everything you need to know about this big celebration.
I recently learned that Dragon Ball is celebrating its 40th anniversary with a special event on January 25th of next year. It sounds like they’re planning two panels to discuss what’s coming next for the franchise. While they haven’t revealed many details yet, they’ve launched a website for the celebration, called ‘Dragon Ball Genkida Matsuri.’ The site promises big announcements, new content, and even some pre-sale items! They’re releasing more information as it becomes available. Sadly, it’s not confirmed if the event will be streamed globally, but I’ll definitely share any news that comes out of it next year. If you’re interested, you can find more details on the official website.
What Will Dragon Ball’s 40th Anniversary Reveal?

I’m seriously hyped for what’s coming in 2026! There’s so much potential, especially with *Dragon Ball Super*. They still have the Moro and Granolah the Survivor arcs from the manga that haven’t been animated yet, and those are huge! Each arc has tons of content – we’re talking years of potential anime episodes if they want to keep the Z-Fighters’ adventures going after the Tournament of Power, the Broly fight, and everything with Cell Max. It’s going to be amazing!
Fans might also see a return to the world of *Dragon Ball* with *Dragon Ball Daima*. The recent series hinted at exciting new storylines, and could bring characters like Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta and Super Saiyan 4 Goku into the main *Dragon Ball* universe. We might even see more elements from the ‘Grand Tour’ arc introduced, potentially linked to the Demon Realm.
Fans are hoping the *Dragon Ball Super* manga will return after a long pause, especially following the sad loss of its creator, Akira Toriyama. While it hasn’t been officially announced, artist Toyotaro may continue the story of the Z-Fighters, with Frieza still posing a threat. There are many exciting possibilities for where the series could go next.
