A recent leak from the set of the upcoming *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* movie has given fans their first look at a returning Avenger. The 2026 film, a collaboration between Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, will feature Tom Holland as Spider-Man in a new story. Joining him will be several familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Jon Bernthal as The Punisher and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. The Hulk’s appearance is particularly interesting, as earlier reports suggested he’d be getting a powerful and frightening upgrade. It seems Bruce Banner’s more aggressive “Savage Hulk” form will be back, and that could spell trouble for Spider-Man and his friends.
Although many fans hope to see Spider-Man and the Hulk team up, a moodboard shared on Pinterest by cinematographer Brett Pawlak from *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* hinted at a conflict between the two, showing images of them battling each other.
A new video posted on TikTok by CJ Celeb Clips offered fans their first clear glimpse of Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner on the set of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*. Filming is currently underway at the University of London.
The video revealed a major plot point by showing Bruce Banner, looking injured after transforming into the Hulk, being carried away on a stretcher. Dust on his face suggested he’d recently changed back from his Hulk form.
Firefighters from the FDNY are also present, likely helping after the Hulk’s destructive outburst. They might be taking him to a hospital for medical attention.
Okay, as a big Marvel fan, I have to say this video was a bit of a surprise! It showed Bruce Banner turning back into human form, which is cool to see, but also a little worrying. We *did* see him human at the end of *Shang-Chi* and in *She-Hulk*, but this time feels different. There was all this dust swirling around him when he shifted back, which makes me think he might not have been fully in control of the transformation – and that’s a bit unsettling!
This leak happened shortly after the first unofficial images of Sadie Sink’s character in *Spider-Man 4* surfaced during filming.
The upcoming film, *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton (known for *Shang-Chi*), takes Peter Parker on a thrilling, down-to-earth adventure with a fresh cast of characters – both heroes and villains. Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo are joined by Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Michael Mando, and Liza Colón-Zayas. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
How Hulk Fits in Spider-Man 4 (Theory)
Based on the latest video, it’s highly likely Savage Hulk will return in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*, and that’s likely trouble for both Peter Parker and The Punisher. They appear to be the best hope for stopping the Hulk’s destructive path through New York. While Mark Ruffalo has played a more controlled, ‘Smart’ Hulk since *Avengers: Endgame*, a return to his original, aggressive form would be a major setback for the character, undoing years of progress he’s made to integrate his intelligence and strength.
Even so, a lot of fans believe reverting the Hulk to his classic, destructive form is the right move for the character in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day*. This is especially true with the next *Avengers* movie on the horizon, as Earth’s heroes will need all the help they can get in their upcoming battle against Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
Footage from early work on *Spider-Man 4* suggests a major action sequence where Peter Parker is pursuing an armored vehicle. This chase may be connected to a prison break, and some believe it will be Peter’s most difficult challenge in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far.
Hulk might be pursuing an armored vehicle, as shown in recent photos and videos. Spider-Man and Punisher are trying to stop him, but they’re struggling to contain his destructive outburst. This led to Hulk unintentionally breaking into a Department of Damage Control prison, allowing many inmates to escape.
