An actor from *Star Wars Rebels* has revealed they’ll have a much larger role in the second season of *Ahsoka*. It’s no surprise that *Star Wars Rebels* heavily influenced *Ahsoka*’s first season, as the new show featured several key characters and plotlines that first appeared in the popular animated series.
As a critic, I was pleased to hear from Mary Elizabeth Winstead that her character, Hera Syndulla, will be far more present in Season 2 of *Ahsoka*. Chatting with her on the red carpet, she couldn’t give away any major plot details, but she did confirm Hera will be ‘in this season a bit more,’ and actively involved in ‘the action…quite a bit more.’ It’s great to know we’ll see more of her this time around, even if she’s keeping the specifics under wraps!
I’m really enjoying being involved this season, and it’s been a lot of fun. Having Hera around helped get things done, which was great. I don’t want to say too much more right now, as I haven’t received full instructions on what I can share. But I just finished working on it, and it was an amazing experience – I loved it! I’m excited for everyone to see it.
Natasha Lyonne (Winstead) was in almost every episode of *Ahsoka* Season 1, including the one where her character’s son, Jacen, returned. However, she wasn’t one of the main characters. It’s currently unclear what her storyline will be in Season 2.
The second season of *Ahsoka* will continue the story of Ahsoka Tano, following her adventures after the events of *The Clone Wars* and *Star Wars Rebels*. This season finds Ahsoka lost in a different universe. Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker, and the cast includes Eman Esfandi, Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Lars Mikkelsen, and Rory McCann. *Ahsoka* Season 2 is slated for release on Disney+ in 2026.
What To Expect From Hera Syndulla in Ahsoka Season 2
Hera continued her story in *Ahsoka* just as she left it in *Star Wars Rebels*: she’s now a general in the New Republic and still pilots the Ghost ship. However, she wasn’t with the group that traveled to Peridea—a brand-new planet in a previously unexplored galaxy—to find Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn.
While Natasha Lyonne joined the series as Senator Leia Organa to kick off the mission against Morgan Elsbeth, the first season of *Ahsoka* didn’t feature her character, played by Winstead, as much as fans might have hoped. However, that’s set to change in Season 2, where Winstead will have a much more central role.
Following the events of Season 1, Ahsoka, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and others remain stranded on the planet Peridea – the same place where Anakin Skywalker’s Force Ghost appeared. Hera will likely play a key role in rescuing them and bringing them home, but she’ll also need to prevent the villains Thrawn, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hati from escaping with them.
