5 Superman “Facts” That Aren’t Actually True

Superman is arguably the most famous superhero ever created, extending his influence far beyond comic books to become a global icon. With nearly 90 years of history, most people are familiar with the Man of Steel, and there’s a wealth of interesting trivia about his powers and adventures across the decades.

Superman is full of fascinating details, but over the years, some popular beliefs about him have turned out to be false. Because he’s such a famous character who’s appeared in countless movies, TV shows, and comics, it’s not surprising that some myths have developed. Here are five common “facts” about Superman that aren’t actually true.

5) Clark Kent Has Always Worked at a Newspaper

Most people know Clark Kent as the quiet reporter for *The Daily Planet*, and it’s become a core part of the Superman story. But surprisingly, journalism isn’t the only job he’s ever held. Throughout the years, Clark has had many different careers. When he was Superboy in the 1940s, he tested toys. He also worked at his family’s general store in Smallville, sold ice cream as a teen, was a radio DJ, a firefighter, and even wrote bestselling novels.

Clark has also worked in journalism throughout his career, taking on many different roles. He’s been an editor, a war correspondent, and even a television news anchor. He even spent time as a blogger during one period. While he often returns to journalism, Clark’s work experience is remarkably diverse.

4) Lois Lane is His One True Love

Lois Lane and Superman are arguably the most famous couple in comic books, and they definitely seem meant to be together. However, Lois isn’t the only woman Clark Kent has loved throughout the years – he’s had several other important relationships.

Clark Kent’s first significant relationship was with Lana Lang, his high school sweetheart – a romance many fans consider just as important as his connection with Lois Lane, especially due to its portrayal in the TV show *Smallville*. Over the years in the comics, Superman has also been romantically involved with Wonder Woman, most prominently during the ‘New 52’ era and in the alternate-universe story ‘Kingdom Come’.

3) He’s Krypton’s Sole Survivor

Everyone knows the story of Superman’s birth: when his home planet, Krypton, was about to explode, his father, Jor-El, sent him to Earth as a baby, seemingly making him the only survivor. But that’s not entirely true. Superman isn’t the last Kryptonian at all – there are others.

While Superman is the most famous Kryptonian survivor, he isn’t the only one. His cousin, Supergirl (Kara Zor-El), also escaped Krypton’s destruction and came to Earth. Some Kryptonian criminals survived too, as they weren’t on the planet when it exploded – a prime example being General Zod, who was imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. Interestingly, Superman’s dog, Krypto, is arguably the most well-adjusted survivor of the planet.

2) Superman Could Be Killed By a Kryptonite Bullet

Everyone knows Superman is vulnerable to Kryptonite, so it’s natural to assume a Kryptonite bullet would be fatal. Surprisingly, that’s not quite true. While a Kryptonite bullet wouldn’t instantly kill Superman, it wouldn’t necessarily be harmless either.

Kryptonite weakens Superman, but it doesn’t happen instantly. The effects build up over time – the more he’s exposed to it, and the greater the amount, the weaker he becomes. So, a Kryptonite bullet wouldn’t kill him right away; it would first need to diminish his strength before causing serious harm.

1) Superman and Batman Don’t Like Each Other

Recent movies, especially *Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice*, haven’t done Superman and Batman any favors by showing them as enemies. This has led many to believe they dislike or even hate each other, despite being heroes and teammates in the Justice League. However, that’s a misrepresentation of their actual relationship.

In comic books, Batman and Superman are known as both partners and close friends. Like any friendship, they sometimes disagree, but they always support each other, and it’s always exciting to see them work as a team.
