Lena Dunham, the mastermind behind “Too Much,” has disclosed her reasons for casting supermodels Emily Ratajkowski and Adwoa Aboah in significant parts within the Netflix romantic comedy.
The upcoming show, partially modeled on its creator’s life, focuses on Jessica (Megan Stalter), an enthusiast of all things British, who moves to the United Kingdom due to a job offer, charting her journey there.
In an unforeseen turn of events, she feels inexplicably attracted to the English musician Felix (portrayed by Will Sharpe, a former cast member of White Lotus). However, their budding relationship could be shattered by the individual issues they both harbor.
In addition to “Hacks” actor Stalter and Sharpe, the ensemble of “Too Much” also features Ratajkowski portraying the role of the new love interest of Jessica’s former boyfriend, while Aboah takes on the part of Felix’s companion at the outset of the narrative.

She went on to say: “What I admire about Emily [Ratajkowski] and Adwoa [Aboah] is not only are they models, but they’re also vocal advocates through their activism, writing, and artistic endeavors.
Dunham clarified that she didn’t aim to immerse Too Much in the realm of fashion, but instead sought to delve into these two intriguing, powerful personalities.
The screenwriter noted: “It seems unlikely to me that they emerged from the fashion industry without developing a powerful brand, and perhaps as a reaction to it.
For Ratajkowski, the movie “Too Much” marks a comeback to acting following a significant break, as her last screen role was in the 2019 independent crime drama “Lying and Stealing,” where she shared screen time with Theo James from “The Gentlemen.
Ah, let me put it this way: Unlike before, Aboah has recently appeared in two popular series – Willow on Disney+, playing the role of Scorpia in a fantasy drama, and as Becks in Netflix’s highly-regarded crime thriller Top Boy.
