For whatever reason, Bandai Namco does not want Sony to add Trophies to its emulated PS1 games.
Most classic games offered by the major console makers have been updated to include trophies, either when they were re-released or through updates. However, Bandai Namco’s re-releases haven’t received this feature.
And unfortunately, the highly anticipated Tekken 3 is no different.
It’s fantastic that this classic fighting game is back on PS5 and PS4, now with convenient features like save states and rewind. However, unlike its earlier versions, such as Tekken 2 and the original PlayStation Ridge Racer games, this release doesn’t include Trophies.
It’s unclear why Bandai Namco is hesitant, but we believe Sony and its emulation team are doing most of the work. Adding this feature would likely benefit players.
We’ve seen other older games receive Trophy support, so there’s still a chance Tekken 3 might get updated with digital trophies someday, even if it’s unlikely.
Let’s hope so, eh?
