Enthusiasts couldn’t wait to catch a glimpse of footage for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie titled The Odyssey. However, the teaser that was leaked ahead of time before Jurassic World: Rebirth, causing an uproar online, has certainly stoked anticipation. Unfortunately, viewers will have to endure a full year until the Universal Pictures film officially debuts in IMAX theaters next summer. While we wait, some details are known, such as the main cast headlined by Matt Damon, a frequent collaborator of Nolan’s. Furthermore, talented actors like Emmy-winner John Leguizamo are also expected to appear alongside him.
Recently, MovieWeb interviewed the renowned actor from the Bronx, who was promoting his current TV project, the critically acclaimed Apple TV+ series “Smoke”, alongside notable actors such as Taron Egerton and Greg Kinnear. However, keep an eye out for Leguizamo’s impressive appearance towards the end of the series, as he promises to be a standout actor in the upcoming show “The Odyssey”. The talented performer shared with MovieWeb his deep-rooted love for Greek mythology, a passion that existed even before joining Nolan’s film, and expressed appreciation for it as well.
I’m quite fond of Euripides, Aristophanes, and other notable Greek authors, as well as ‘The Odyssey’. I managed to read ‘The Iliad’, but it was challenging since it requires expertise in ancient languages like Punic, military matters, and the Peloponnesian Wars. However, ‘The Odyssey’ stands out because its author made it easy to understand. It has an incredible script! The cast is simply phenomenal – Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and many more superstars are involved. Working on this project was truly exhilarating.
‘Smoke’ Will Have You Fearing the Flames

For now, savor Leguizamo’s endearing wit as he portrays arson investigator Ezra Esposito in the mini-series Smoke, streaming on Apple TV+. His performance is captivating and steals the spotlight in every scene. He plays the former partner of the show’s lead character, Dave (Egerton). At first sight, Dave appears to have it all, climbing his way up from firefighter to the city’s top investigator, who now probes the flames he once fought. However, as Dave’s peculiar personal secrets begin to unravel, his old friend Ezra is compelled to rejoin duty and assist in investigating the investigator himself.
In the interview with MovieWeb, John Leguizamo shared insights about his latest project, revealing an unconventional learning experience. As he delved into the unique production process, this seasoned actor gained a wealth of knowledge on arson. “I discovered quite a bit about fire-setting, and I must admit, it’s made me more cautious around fires than ever before,” he explained. “Now, my house is stocked with plenty of fire extinguishers and fire blankets due to my renewed fear of fires.
Smoke might just have a similar effect on you. The series is now streaming on Apple TV+.
